Asante Kotoko captain, Amos Frimpong has opined that, the group they find themselves in the 2018/19 CAF Confederations Cup is a tough one with experienced clubs.
He said anyone who thinks otherwise might have not been a follower of the other three clubs in the group.
The defender on Asempa FM’s SportsNite show indicated that, football has changed entirely nowadays and as a result of that, Nkana FC, ZESCO United, and Al Hilal who are in Group C with Asante Kotoko are now powerhouses since the game is not played with big names again but rather, current form.
“Looking at the three teams we are in the group with, they are very experienced side and they have been playing yearly in this competition [CAF Confederations Cup], even they played in this competition last year. Their quality and experience so far as this competition is a concern is also high. I can say that our group is a difficult one but I have the belief that, with the hard work we have started we can qualify from the group to the next stage of the competition.” He said.
Kotoko will open their group campaign against Hilal on February 3 in Sudan before hosting Zesco in Kumasi. They will face Nkana on February 24 to wrap up the first round.
They will then play two home games in a row against Nkana and Hilal before a trip Zambia to face Zesco on March 17.
