Concerned Kantamanto Traders demand resignation of leadership of 13 unions

-

Concerned members of the Kantamanto Secondhand Clothing Sellers are calling for the resignation of the leadership of 13 unions, accusing them of making decisions without consulting their members.

Leader of the group, Nana Kofi Addo, stated at a press briefing that Kantamanto consists of 13 unions dealing in different businesses, yet their leaders take unilateral decisions.

He alleged that after the recent fire disaster, the union leaders engaged a foundation they claimed was offering support to rebuild the market.

However, checks by the concerned traders indicate that the said foundation is attempting to take over the market yard.

“As I speak to you, yesterday at 1 a.m., I received intel that the leadership of the 13 unions was holding a meeting. After making several calls to verify, it turned out to be true. This has raised more suspicion in our minds—why hold such a meeting at dawn?” he questioned.

He further claimed that the union leaders have an agenda to evacuate traders from the market while pretending to fight for their interests.

Nana Kofi Addo stressed that they do not want any foundation operating in the market and urged the leadership of the 13 unions to stop engaging organizations with a different agenda from that of the traders.
