Companies collapsing due to poor human resource management – Expert

A human resource expert is bemoaning the lack of adequate investments in the management of the human resource in many companies.

Chief Executive Officer of Sedat Consult, Patricia Abena Kisi, observes many businesses in the country are collapsing after recruiting ‘unskilled’ personnel in managing their organisation’s human affairs.

She explains some organizations struggle in managing their operations due to poor HR practices.

“A lot of organizations do not have money to have a full-fledged HR department which is causing a lot of businesses to collapse,” she said.

She indicated that due the insufficient financial investment, some businesses are in the practice of placing their relatives in HR positions to regulate the companies.

Ms. Kisi was speaking at the SEDAT CONSULT 2024 conference in Kumasi aimed at empowering Human Resource professionals and business leaders.

The conference brought together HR professionals from various businesses and companies to share insights and best practices for optimizing HR in the workplace.

Ms. Abena Kisi emphasized the need for effective HR management in every organization as they facilitate the management of a company’s most valuable assets.

According to her, the role of the human resource professional extends beyond administrative tasks.

“It is a critical position and a gatekeeper of every company. The role of Human Resources is often misunderstood as merely an administrative task, but in reality, it requires a special knowledge,” she said.

She is advising existing companies and upcoming ones to invest heavily in the management of their human resource to avoid their sudden collapse.

The conference was designed to support and empower Human Resource professionals in their critical role of creating and maintaining a conducive work environment for employee satisfaction. ‎
