The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam George, has formally requested legal advice from the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, on several contracts signed under his predecessor.
In a memo, the Minister explained that the move aligns with President Mahama’s vision of zero tolerance for corruption and ensuring value for money in all public-private partnerships.
Mr. George is seeking a “legal opinion on the terms, compliance, and viability of the contracts related to the commercialization of the e-Government Infrastructure Contract, awarded to Messrs Lebara Ghana Ltd and Smart Infraco Ghana Ltd.”
Additionally, he is requesting a legal review for the Contract for the Design, Development, and Implementation of a Common Platform for Traffic Monitoring, Revenue Assurance, Mobile Money Monitoring, and Fraud Management, executed by Messrs Kelni GVG Ltd.
This marks the first phase of the legal review of contracts signed and executed within the Ministry.
The Minister has assured that the public will be duly informed of the Attorney General’s response and any subsequent actions taken following the legal review.
