Commercialize high-profile funerals – Okere MP urges

-

The Member of Parliament for Okere, Kenneth Nana Addo, has called for the commercialization of high-profile funerals and festivals in Ghana as a means to boost the country’s revenue base.

Addressing Parliament, Kenneth Nana Addo remarked that cultural events, especially funerals, hold significant economic potential that remains largely untapped.

He suggested the creation of a special agency to handle funerals within the tourism calendar and emphasize practices such as laying in state, funeral attire, and displays, which could attract the global market.

He argued that by strategically monetizing such occasions, the local economy would benefit substantially, creating income streams to support Ghana’s development.

Kenneth Nana Addo urged the newly sworn-in Minister of Tourism to prioritize this initiative and implement a robust framework to capitalize on the cultural aspects of tourism.
