Some concerned cocoa farmers have called on the government to adopt electronic scales as way to measure cocoa so they can make profit during the next yield.
According to them, they are always cheated with the manual scale hence their call for an electronic scales for fairness to prevail in the cocoa sector.
Charles Gyamfi, a cocoa farmer at Anokyekrom in the Brong-Ahafo Region, who was also 2018 National Best Cocoa Farmer in an interview with Adom News said “the manual scale isn’t helping the farmers. We think COCOBOD should bring the electronic scale. I was cheated 8 kilos sometime back.”

Stressing on the need for the electronic devices, Mr Gyamfi said “it is really affecting our job”.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD, Joseph Boahen Aidoo urged the farmers to calm down plans are in place to solve the matter.

“We will look at the electronic scale. We have people looking out for those who have tempered with their scales. Anyone found guilty will be penalized,” he told Adom News.
