Cocoa farmers honour late Goaso chief for fight against galamsey

Cocoa farmers in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region have paid tribute to the late Paramount Chief of Goaso, Nana Kwasi Bosomprah, for his unwavering fight against illegal mining (galamsey), which helped protect cocoa farms in the area.

Speaking during the 40-day observance of the late chief, Emmanuel Nana Sarpong, President of the Asunafo North Cooperative Cocoa Farmers Union, commended Nana Bosomprah’s commitment to safeguarding farmlands.

He noted that the chief swiftly intervened whenever he received intelligence on illegal mining activities, taking decisive action regardless of the perpetrators’ backgrounds.

Nana Poku Bosompem, Forestry Service Manager for the Ahafo Region, also acknowledged Nana Bosomprah’s role in environmental conservation, particularly his contributions to the Green Ghana initiative.

He noted that the late chief actively promoted tree planting in Goaso, guiding the community on sustainable forestry practices.

Both the cocoa farmers and forestry officials described Nana Kwasi Bosomprah as a leader dedicated to preserving the environment and securing the future of agriculture in the region.
