Coalition of Concerned Nzema People threaten legal action over controversial Petroleum Hub project

-

The Coalition of Concerned Nzema People has vowed to pursue legal action against the government over the proposed Petroleum Hub project led by the private sector.

This decision follows the Office of the Presidency’s dismissal of a petition from the group, which opposed the acquisition of 20,000 acres of land by the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation for the project.

Despite the group’s concerns, the Presidency has confirmed that the sod-cutting ceremony will proceed as scheduled.

In response, Isaac Kojo Ndede, an executive member of the Coalition, stated that the group will resort to legal measures if their grievances continue to be ignored by the government.

“If consultation is required, should it be with someone who doesn’t even own an acre of the land, or should you go through the proper channels to engage the rightful landowners? When you bypass the correct process and exclude the people in the villages, do you expect them to allow you to take the land without opposition?

“We are challenging the way these matters are being handled, and we’re making it clear that this is not the right approach. If necessary, we will pursue legal action, and that is inevitable” he added.
