Veteran Ghanaian coach, J.E. Sarpong has called on the Ministry of Youth and Sports to complete the abandoned Ho Youth Resource Centre in the Adaklu constituency of the Volta Region.
The former Ebusua Dwarfs coach said there are a lot of football talents in the Volta Region but due to the bad nature of their pitches, it makes it difficult to identify such talents, hence the appeal.
Mr Sarpong was speaking to Adom News on the sidelines of a football gala organised by the Tongu Chiefs Union under the theme: Uniting Tongu for Development.
He also seized the opportunity to call on top Ghanaian footballers who are playing both home and abroad as well as politicians, to help reshape football pitches in the Volta to help promote sports.
J.E Sarpong encouraged the youth who are willing to take football a career to be very disciplined as football is the shortest way to make money.
On their part, some of the players who participated in the gala also appealed to scouters to come to their aid by scouting them.
The Youth Resource Centre was expected to be completed in 18 months following a sod cutting in 2018 for to pave way for work to begin.
However, the facility has been abandoned after the 2022 Independence Day celebration was held there, raising concerns.
Last week, a group calling itself Volta Sports Crusaders Association petitioned the government through the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Letsa, demanding the completion and operationalisation of the facility.
