CLOGSAG suspends nationwide strike

-

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has suspended its prolonged nationwide strike over the appointment of Samuel Botchway as the Registrar for Birth and Death.

This follows a decision by its National Executive Council (NEC) at an emergency meeting on March 28, 2025.

In a statement, Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo explained that the suspension would allow for continued engagements to resolve the impasse.

In this regard, CLOGSAG entreats staff of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service to resume work on Wednesday, 2nd April 2025,” the statement read.

CLOGSAG began the strike on February 20, demanding that the position be filled by a civil servant, raising concerns over the appointee’s affiliation with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Ahead of the suspension on Friday, the Minister for Labour and Employment, Dr. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo engaged the association to find an amicable resolution.
