The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has declared a nationwide strike effective Thursday, February 20, 2025.
The industrial action is to mount pressure on the government to remove the Acting Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry, Samuel Adom Botchway.
After an initial strike threat on February 13, the government assured that Mr. Botchway would be re-assigned.
However, CLOGSAG argues that his participation in a budget hearing at the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs on Monday, February 17, 2025, confirms that he remains in his role—contrary to government commitments.
A statement signed by the Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, reaffirmed that the strike will proceed as scheduled unless their concerns are addressed.
All CLOGSAG members have been urged to hold themselves in readiness for the industrial action.
