Clean-Jobs Resources Limited has refuted allegations of involvement in illegal mining activities at the Offin-Shelter Belt forest reserve, describing the claims as baseless and damaging to its reputation.
In a press statement issued on January 16, 2025, the company clarified that it had been granted a forest entry permit to undertake a reforestation project in the degraded portions of the reserve.
Upon arriving at the project site, the company discovered illegal mining operations allegedly carried out by individuals associated with BAM Mining and Construction Limited, a group that the Minerals Commission has no record of licensing.
Clean-Jobs Resources reported the illegal activities to the District Forestry Service Division and the Nkawie Divisional Police Command but noted that no immediate action was taken by authorities.
The company also reported further illegal mining activities involving groups from Anwiafutu, along with armed individuals attempting to seize control of the mining operations. Police intervention was eventually sought to address the situation.
On January 14, 2025, the Forestry Commission communicated that the required community engagement could proceed, but as of the time of the statement, this had not yet occurred.
Clean-Jobs Resources condemned the false allegations of illegal mining, asserting that the accusations are a deliberate attempt to tarnish its reputation.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to lawful operations and environmental restoration, urging stakeholders to collaborate constructively to improve the forest reserve.
The company also pledged to cooperate with authorities to combat illegal activities in the area.
