A 25-year-old church secretary, Hayford Kofi Boadi, has been arrested for allegedly embezzling church funds.
The New Crusading Guide reported that the suspect stole GHS 300,000 from church funds to sponsor his gay partner’s tertiary education.
The arrest was made following suspicions of financial irregularities within the church.
Upon interrogation, Boadi, who is married with children, confessed to using the church’s funds to support his lover, who was facing financial difficulties.
In addition to financing the lover’s education, he used part of the money for travel expenses to arrange for their relocation to Canada in an attempt to avoid any potential scandal related to their relationship.
The arrest has left the church and its congregation shocked, as investigations into the matter continue.
