Chief, elders arrested over land dispute near Chereponi

The Chief, Nana Abelson and elders of Naaduni near Chereponi have been arrested following the death of two men in renewed clashes between the Konkonbas and the Chekosis.

The two communities have been battling over a piece of land for years. It is not exactly clear what sparked the clashes Saturday June 2, 2018.

The Yendi Municipal Crime officer, DSP Michael Happy Addea confirmed this arret to Adom News.

He said the 85-year-old chief was picked up after police discovered two locally manufactured single guns, three single barrel guns and three BB live cartridges at his palace.

He said two elders and 16 other subject have also been arrested in connection with the renewed clashes.

DSP Addea they are currently in custody at Yendi divisional headquarters assisting in investigations.
