Tensions have erupted in the Ashanti Region, disrupting the Council of State election process.
Nhyira FM’s Kwadwo Obeng Mireku reported that unknown machomen stormed the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC), where the election was being held.
Voting had been completed, and counting was underway when the group invaded the premises, resulting in chaos.
During the chaotic scene, ballot papers were destroyed.
All 86 delegates had voted for the 12 candidates and were awaiting the declaration of the winner, but the process was abruptly suspended.
