Tensions erupted during an Appointments Committee session as Minority and Majority members clashed over the vetting of Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
The dispute arose when the Minority proposed postponing the vetting to Friday, citing concerns over the day’s proceedings. However, the Majority opposed the suggestion, insisting that the process continue as scheduled.
The disagreement escalated into chaos, with Minority members disrupting the session by breaking tables and microphones in protest against any delay.
Despite the uproar, the Majority maintained that the committee was adhering to its established schedule and insisted the vetting proceed without interruption.
The situation led to a heightened security presence in the conference room as tensions mounted. The Minority remained resolute, arguing that an agreement had been reached to vet only four nominees before adjourning for the day.
With both sides refusing to compromise, the committee’s proceedings ground to a halt, leaving the vetting process in limbo.
