Tensions flared at the Ablekuma North collation center as agitated party supporters forcefully broke into the collation room, causing chaos.
The incident led to the destruction of parts of the building’s burglar-proof security, scattering pink sheets and forcing journalists and other observers to flee for cover.
The turmoil followed allegations by party agents that 18 pink sheets were missing during the collation of presidential results. The process was earlier halted as concerns were raised about the unaccounted sheets.
In an attempt to resolve the issue, the Returning Officer summoned parliamentary candidates and representatives of the political parties to review the pink sheets.
The situation remains tense as efforts continue to restore order and proceed with the collation process.
