As part of efforts to put pressure on the Electoral Commission (EC) to stop compiling a new register, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has started regional protests.
Members of the party in the Central region on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 stormed the EC Regional office to press home their demand.
They presented a petition to officers of the EC in the district.
Regional Secretary of the NDC, Kojo Quansah, said they decided to picket to send a clear message to the EC that, they will not allow it to compile a new Voters Register.
He noted that, though their numbers were not as big as those in Tamale and Kumasi, the leadership of the NDC in the region believes that their target was achieved.
“We were about 600 people in just three constituencies and our next protest; others will join to ensure our grievances are addressed,” the NDC man stressed.
Mr Quansah charged Ghanaians, who want free and fair elections, to join the protest against the compilation of the new Voters Register.
