It’s not uncommon for celebrity marriages to fall apart. But, despite the downfall of many, a few Ghanaian celebrities’ relationships have withstood the test of time.
Some couples are both successful actors, while other couples have one spouse who is a public figure while the other is unknown to the public.
This is a compilation of some of these couples who have survived all the problems that come with marriage:
Amy Newman and Husband
Gospel musician Amy Amber Newman has been married to her husband for four decades. They are blessed with eight children; four boys and four girls.
In the wake of celebrity divorces and cheating scandals, their marriage is worth celebrating and a source of motivation for the youth and would be married couples.
In celebrating her husband who turned a year older seven weeks ago, she wrote this on her Instagram page: “My love for you grows and grows forever. Even after 40 years of marriage, I am always discovering new reasons to love you. You’re an amazing husband and I feel so lucky.”
The ‘Oye W’adom’ singer has managed to keep her marriage and private life off social media and the general public.
Oheneyere Gifty Anti and Nana Ansah Kwao IV
“After four years of marriage, You still make me laugh like crazy…After four years of ups and downs, Nyame Ay3 bi. I don’t know how we made it this far. But we are a clear manifestation of Love, tolerance, patience, determination, mutual respect, and partnership!!!
“God has been merciful unto us, my dear husband, Nana Ansah Kwao IV. May we continue to do our best, hun, and leave the rest to God. Happy 4th wedding anniversary to us,” these are the exact words Oheneyere Gifty Anti wrote on her Instagram page today.
October 15, 2019 marks exactly four years the two tied the knot at a traditional and pageantry ceremony. The royal wedding, which received huge media attention in Ghana, was attended by some of Ghana’s A-list personalities including former President John Agyekum Kufuor, former Minister Hackman Owusu Agyeman and Dzifa Abla Gomashie, then Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts as well as other politicians.
They have a daughter called Nyame Animuonyam Oheneba Afia Asaa Afrakoma Sintim-Misa.
Nana Ama McBrown and Maxwell Mensah
On August 5, 2016, Nana Ama McBrown tied the knot with her boyfriend of many years, Maxwell Mensah at a strictly by invitation ceremony. Two years into their marriage, however, there were speculations of trouble in paradise as many begun to predict collapse.
Some have even questioned the vast age difference between the actress and her husband. While McBrown is over 40 years, Maxwell is over 35 years old.
One person who was very optimistic about the collapse of Mr Mensah’s marriage was George Lutterodt. On Adom FM’s Entertainment Hall hosted by Mike 2, he said the marriage lacks the biblical foundation which mandates the man to be head of the family. The couple welcomed their first child in March 2019, after trying so many times.
Okyeame Kwame and Annica Nsia Apau
Okyeame Kwame and his wife Annica have been married for over a decade and their public display of affection is what fans always look out for. They are blessed with two lovely children; Sir Kwame Nsiah Apau and Shanti Antwiwaa Nsia Apau.
Majid Michel and Virna Michel
Majid Michel and his stunning wife, Virna Michel renewed their wedding vows in 2015 after being together for 10 years. It is safe to say Majid’s marriage is as successful as his acting career; they have been married since 2005. They are blessed with three children.
Adjetey Annan and Elom Anang
The ace Ghanaian actor, Adjetey Anang, whom most fans know as Pusher recently celebrated his 20th anniversary with his wife Elom Anang. The ‘Things We Do For Love’ icon in celebrating it revealed all the key secrets that have sustained his marriage. One challenge, they have had was their difficulty in having a child together after seven years into their marriage though they made several attempts. They now have a son.
