His comments follow criticisms by the former Member of Parliament for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, along with other party members, on the composition of the committee established to investigate the NPP’s historic electoral loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The critics claim that Professor Oquaye’s leadership as chairman of the election committee, which supervised both the presidential and parliamentary primaries, contributed to the party’s poor performance — a performance they describe as the worst in the NPP’s electoral history, marked by the loss of significant parliamentary seats.

But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Nana Akomea wondered why the former Speaker of Parliament was being singled out.

“Have they explained how Oquaye contributed to the party’s defeat? What exactly did he do that makes them say he caused the NPP’s loss in the 2024 election?” he asked.

He added that most of the people criticising the committee were part of the campaign themselves, so he finds it strange that they are now shifting blame.

“Let’s not make this personal. Apart from Oquaye and one other person, all the people on that committee are names I don’t even know — they are not household party names,” Akomea noted.

He stressed that the committee was constituted by the party’s National Council, not by one individual.

“It’s not one person who formed the committee. Over 110 National Council members approved it. Now the committee has finished its work and presented the report, which reflects the views and concerns of the party. So why are they now complaining?”

According to him, anyone who had concerns about the committee or its members, including Prof. Oquaye, should have raised those issues during the process — not after the report’s release.

“If anyone had issues with Prof. Oquaye, they should have presented them to the committee while the process was ongoing, not now. To go out publicly and single out Professor Mike Oquaye is simply unfair,” he said.

AKOMEA ON OCQUAYE

Nana Akomea, who also served as Vice Chairman of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 campaign, urged party members to focus on the committee’s recommendations rather than personal grievances.

“They should stop personalising the matter. The report is ready, and the recommendations are the way forward for the party,” he stressed.

The 12-member committee, chaired by Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, officially presented its findings to the party’s national leadership on Wednesday, April 16, during a brief ceremony at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

Nana Akomea reacts to Mussa Dankwah’s post-election survey [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/nana-akomea-reacts-to-mussa-dankwahs-post-election-survey-listen/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 17:22:27 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526513 The Vice Chairman of the 2024 Bawumia Campaign Team, Nana Akomea, has stated that they are ready to engage with the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, regarding his findings on the 2024 election.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Nana Akomea, who is also the former Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation, expressed the team’s desire to understand the methodologies and basis behind the findings.

“We will approach him for the details to understand what we can learn from it, especially since one of his surveys revealed that about 60% of Ghanaians prefer Bawumia in the next elections. It’s important that we understand these details and be guided accordingly,” he stated.

This comes after the release of Dankwah’s survey, which attributed the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections to key figures within the party.

Dankwah explained that the initial phase of the study allowed respondents to freely mention who they believed was responsible for the NPP’s loss.

The report highlighted former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as the second-most blamed figure, with 40% of respondents attributing the defeat to his management of the economy.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s 2024 presidential candidate and then-Vice President, was cited by 37% of respondents, who felt his campaign lacked sufficient inspiration.

Other figures mentioned included Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh (33%), various government appointees (32%), and Members of Parliament (25%). Kennedy Agyapong, who contested the NPP flagbearer race but did not lead the party into the general election, was blamed by 9% of respondents.

The team then used the most frequently mentioned names to design a more structured, close-ended survey.

Although Nana Akomea admitted that the findings might be unclear, he emphasized the need for further engagement to better understand the survey and gain clarity on its implications.

Why I lost EC appointment under Akufo-Addo – Amoako Baah [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/why-i-lost-ec-appointment-under-akufo-addo-amoako-baah-listen/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 14:41:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526403 Political Scientist Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has recounted how he lost an opportunity to be appointed as the Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) during former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s tenure.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member revealed that he contested the party’s Chairmanship position not because he needed the role but to get closer to Akufo-Addo and guide him on key decisions.

He explained, “I contested as the National Chairman just to get close to the President because I didn’t even need the position for anything, but only 18 people in the party saw the truth.”

However, after his defeat, Akufo-Addo’s cousin, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, informed him that he had missed a significant opportunity to become the EC Chair.

Dr. Baah recalled, “One time I spoke to Gabby and he asked me why I contested for the National Chairmanship because they were considering making me the Electoral Commissioner, but my participation in the election thwarted it.”

Dr. Baah expressed disappointment, questioning whether party decisions should be determined by only a select few, asking, “Is that to suggest we only do what a few want in the party?”

On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Dr. Baah announced that he had resigned from the NPP, citing frustration with the party’s leadership and its failure to connect with ordinary supporters.

He also hinted at the formation of a new political party, the New Patriotic Front (NPF), claiming that the initiative already has support from about 36 NPP stalwarts.

Apologise to the nation, NPP – Amoako Baah tells Akufo-Addo [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/apologise-to-the-nation-npp-amoako-baah-tells-akufo-addo-video/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 11:42:35 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526341 A former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, has called on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to apologise to Ghanaians for what he describes as his poor handling of the economy during his time in office.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Amoako Baah said the former president must admit he failed the country and offer an unqualified apology.

“When Nana Addo was about to become president, he knew the country wasn’t like this. But look at the mess he created. He destroyed the economy, and the right thing for him to do now is to apologise to the people of Ghana,” he stated.

The political scientist stressed that he has made this point before and stands firmly by it.

According to him, Nana Addo’s leadership left the nation worse off and Ghanaians deserve an acknowledgment of this failure.

“I have said it before, and I will repeat it — he must apologise to Ghanaians for the abysmal failure. He knows he didn’t perform well,” Dr. Amoako Baah added.

His comments come in the wake of growing criticism from a section of the public, who blame former President Akufo-Addo for the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

A post-election survey conducted by Global Info Analytics revealed that 68% of respondents held Nana Addo responsible for the party’s heavy loss.

Many believe his administration’s poor economic decisions played a major role in the NPP’s electoral defeat.

I suffered spiritual attacks anytime I spoke about Akufo-Addo — Amoako Baah claims [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/i-suffered-spiritual-attacks-anytime-i-spoke-about-akufo-addo-amoako-baah-claims-audio/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 11:38:56 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526336 A former stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, has claimed that he often experienced spiritual attacks anytime he spoke about former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, he revealed that these challenges frequently arose, particularly after he criticised Akufo-Addo.

He alleged that these attacks occasionally manifested physically.

“I am speaking my truth. You will be stabbed in the side spiritually,” he claimed.

Aside from these spiritual attacks, the political scientist also alleged that some Kumasi-based radio stations were paid to blacklist him, even though his interviews boosted their audience ratings.

“The stations knew they got a bigger audience through my interviews, so sometimes they would call me and allow me to speak for only five minutes. A producer might want me to speak, but because the presenter has been paid, he will decline it. A lot of things have happened, and in due course, I will talk about them,” he stated.

Dr. Baah further mentioned experiencing occultic attacks but emphasized that he has endured them, affirming that he is a man of God with a divine purpose to fulfill on earth.

These revelations come barely 24 hours after he announced his resignation from the NPP, citing deep-seated frustrations with the party’s leadership and its failure to connect with ordinary supporters.

Dr. Baah has also hinted at the formation of a new party, the New Patriotic Front (NPF), which he claims already has the backing of about 36 NPP stalwarts.

I’m not alone, more NPP bigwigs are breaking away – Amoako Baah [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/im-not-alone-more-npp-bigwigs-are-breaking-away-amoako-baah-listen/ Thu, 17 Apr 2025 09:53:09 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526260 Political Scientist Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has reaffirmed that his resignation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is still in effect, adding that he is not the only one parting ways with the party.

According to him, several leading members are also breaking away to join his new political movement, which he has named the New Patriotic Front.

“It’s not just me. There are many bigwigs behind this move. Even if someone comes to beg me to stop forming the party, I can’t, because the breakaway is much bigger than just one person,” Dr. Amoako Baah stated in an interview on Adom FMs morning show Dwaso Nsem.

He revealed that so far, 36 leading members of the NPP have pledged their support and are gearing up to officially join the New Patriotic Front.

Dr. Amoako Baah also disclosed that some NPP members living abroad, particularly in the United States, have contacted him to announce their decision to leave the party.

“Even those outside the country have called me and told me they are leaving. I cannot lie — people are tired,” he stressed.

He expressed disappointment over what he describes as the party’s refusal to listen to genuine concerns from its members.

“The truth is, even when you speak, the party won’t listen. A few people are just doing what they like,” he lamented.

AMOAKO BAAH ON NEW PARTY

The political scientist believes that this internal disconnect and poor leadership contributed to the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general election.

“Even after losing the 2024 election, the same people still want to control the party. That is why I’ve decided to leave — I can’t even freely express my mind anymore,” he added.

Dr. Amoako Baah officially announced his resignation from the NPP, citing deep frustrations over the leadership’s failure to connect with grassroots supporters and its inability to accept internal criticism.

The political scientist claimed this was the root cause of the corruption and acts of wickedness witnessed under the Akufo-Addo-led government.

He made this statement during an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.

“Satan has taken over the NPP, and so we are not worried about criminality. We don’t care when we are lying, we steal money without any remorse; look at what they did with the pensioners’ money. They watched on for KAMA to die; are they that wicked? Nobody was even able to assist him in any way. They will surely pay for what they did,” he stated.

His comments come just days after former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, also called for the removal of what he described as “demons” within the NPP.

Amoako Baah on satanic influence in NPP

Professor Frimpong-Boateng stressed that he expected all party executives to resign over what he termed bad leadership, which he said led the party into a “shameful defeat” in the 2024 elections.

He further emphasized that a change in leadership would restore dignity and trust among the party’s grassroots and Ghanaians at large.

I haven’t sacked anyone — Petroleum Hub CEO clears air [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/i-havent-sacked-anyone-petroleum-hub-ceo-clears-air-listen/ Wed, 16 Apr 2025 17:00:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526163 The Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), Dr. Tony Aubynn, has dismissed reports suggesting that staff members have been sacked from his outfit.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Dr. Aubynn clarified that no employee has been sacked, but rather, some staff members were released after failing to meet expectations during their probation period.

“I have not sacked anyone. It’s just a normal HR process. When you are recruited, you are placed on probation. If at the end of your probation your performance is not satisfactory, the recommendation is that you leave. But to say people have been sacked — that is not true,” he said.

Dr. Aubynn stated that the exit of a few individuals was purely based on professional assessments and recommendations by the Human Resource department.

“Even those who have left are about five people. They are not even many. When I assumed office, some recommendations had already been made regarding their performance. The HR system I met is very professional, and I don’t interfere in their work” he added.

TONY AUBYN ON SACK

He further explained that probation is part of the employment process and helps both the employer and the employee determine suitability for the job.

“Probation is designed to prepare you for full employment. If the assessment shows you are not fit for the job, then you can be asked to leave. That’s a normal HR practice everywhere,” he added.

Dr. Aubynn urged the public to disregard claims suggesting mass dismissals at the corporation.

I would have thrown Akufo-Addo out of NPP if… — Amoako Baah [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/i-would-have-thrown-akufo-addo-out-of-npp-if-amoako-baah-audio/ Wed, 16 Apr 2025 16:19:53 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526097 Political scientist and prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, has stated that if he were the party’s chairman, he would have expelled former President Akufo-Addo from the NPP.

According to Dr. Baah, Akufo-Addo cannot be absolved of responsibility for the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general election.

He claimed that although the truth is widely known within the party, many members are afraid to speak up.

“They are still afraid to speak up. They want to talk about the president, but they are not able to because he is the one who caused the whole defeat. It should be put on his head. He is the person behind this whole thing. He became very unpopular. He became arrogant, you know, and did whatever he wanted — even threatened his own party members, the MPs. Some of them, he actually campaigned against. How does that happen? If I were the chairman, I would have thrown him out of the party,” he said.

Dr. Baah also criticized NPP Chairman, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, for allowing Akufo-Addo to act unchecked, alleging that the former president even went as far as threatening Members of Parliament.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based TV3, the former head of the Political Science Department at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) alleged that Akufo-Addo still seeks to control the party, despite the defeat.

“No president should be given the power to do such a thing — to campaign against your own party members. Does the party belong to him? But of course, he held all the cards, so he thought he could do whatever he wanted, and this is what brought us to this point.

Dr. Richard Amoako Baah

He hijacked the whole party. After bringing us to this disastrous end, he should have kept quiet, walked away into the sunset, and sat somewhere quietly. But he still wants to control the party,” Dr. Baah fumed.

He further vowed that any attempts by Akufo-Addo to influence the NPP’s future will be fiercely resisted.

“We are not going to agree to that. The party is not his. He still wants to have a say in who becomes the next president. Even when the results came out, Info Analytics made it clear. That alone should have told him to be quiet and leave the party alone.

If you want your party to do well, this is an indication that you have become very unpopular and should step aside. But no, they still want to control everything. It doesn’t work that way. If you were popular, it wouldn’t work that way — and now that you are colossally a failure, we will not agree,” he added.

Dr. Baah also pointed to Akufo-Addo’s refusal to reshuffle his appointees despite public outcry as one of the major factors that contributed to the NPP’s humiliating defeat at the polls.

Galamsey could be aiding Bawku conflict — Forestry Commission boss [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/galamsey-could-be-aiding-bawku-conflict-forestry-commission-boss-audio/ Wed, 16 Apr 2025 13:49:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2526033 The Western Regional Director of the Forestry Commission, Nana Kwabena Bosompim, has raised concerns that proceeds from illegal mining, widely known as galamsey, could be fueling conflicts in parts of Ghana, particularly in Bawku in the Upper East Region.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem following a raid and demolition exercise at an illegal mining settlement in the Subri Forest Reserve, Nana Bosompim disclosed that some of the individuals arrested identified themselves as natives of Bawku and other northern communities.

According to him, many of these young men confessed that the money they earn from galamsey is sent back home to support their families — some of whom are caught in the middle of the ongoing Bawku conflict.

“We came across people from the Upper East, Upper West, and Northern Regions. Many of them are from areas such as Bawku and Bolgatanga. They said they came to work so they can repackage the money and support their families in the conflict,” he revealed.

The Director further suggested that the situation bears signs of a militia-style network, with some of the miners allegedly working under duress.

“Some individuals told us that if they fail to send the monies, their families back home would be attacked. So this paints the picture that the galamsey menace could be aiding the Bawku conflict and possibly other conflicts in Ghana,” he added.

His remarks come amid renewed violence in Bawku, where the conflict has claimed several lives and left others injured. The Ghana Police Service has recently raised alarms over rising attacks on security personnel and their families in the area.

In response to the worsening security situation, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has placed a ban on the movement of officers and their relatives into Bawku.

Officers already stationed there have also been ordered to wear full protective gear and move only under armoured escort.

Kumasi Mayor Backtracks on Threat to Flog Traders, Vows to Stick to Traditional Methods

The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has backtracked on his comments about using corporal punishment against traders who defy the ban on pavement trading.

In response to widespread backlash, including criticism from members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Boadi clarified that he is committed to being a servant leader and has no intentions of manhandling or mistreating his people.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, April 14, 2025, King Zuba, as he is popularly known, acknowledged that the level of filth in Kumasi calls for urgent action but emphasized the need for discipline without resorting to physical punishment.

Mr. Boadi had previously announced plans for a decongestion exercise, setting a two-week deadline for traders to vacate pavements and roadsides, warning that those who resisted would face severe consequences, including flogging.

This led to widespread condemnation from both the public and political figures.

However, during an appearance on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the Mayor clarified that he no longer intended to use corporal punishment. He said, “I wish we won’t get to that extent because when I went round on Tuesday, some people have started moving.”

KMA Mayor on lashing traders

Boadi explained that traditional methods, such as confiscating goods and arrests, have not been effective, but reiterated his commitment to using the police, court summons, and confiscation to address the situation.

“I won’t lash anybody again. If I get hold of anyone, I will hand them to the police and arraign them before court, but when the filth engulfs the city, everybody must know that I didn’t get the needed support,” he added.

The Mayor reaffirmed his long-term goal to transform Kumasi into a clean, business-friendly city that attracts investment, emphasizing that a well-organized urban environment is key to realizing that vision.

The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has issued a stern warning to victims of the recent Adum Blue Light Market fire outbreak against any attempts at reconstruction.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr. Boadi made it clear that any structures put up will be demolished, citing a comprehensive report on the fire incident, which recommended the demolition of the building.

The devastating fire, which occurred on March 21, 2025, destroyed several shops and commercial spaces, leaving thousands of traders with significant losses.

Goods worth millions of cedis were consumed by the blaze. Since the incident, various individuals, including political figures, have visited the market to commiserate with victims and make donations.

However, Mr. Boadi revealed that after reviewing the report, the assembly will meet on Thursday to make a final decision. He also expressed dissatisfaction with traders’ continued defiance, stressing that the building belongs to the KMA and is structurally weak.

He further stated that while NPP members have provided cement for reconstruction, it is unnecessary as the building needs to be demolished before any rebuilding can take place.

“I will demolish everything they have done so far. They shouldn’t continue to waste their time and money,” he said, adding that the appropriate quarters have received the report and are awaiting approval for the next steps.

The Mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, has issued a stern warning to traders against operating on pavements and roads within the Central Business District.

Mr. Boadi has given traders a two-week deadline to cease their activities, cautioning that defiant traders will face serious consequences, including physical discipline.

He explained that traditional methods such as confiscating goods and arrests have not been effective, leading him to adopt a more direct approach.

“I have my own military-democratic style which I will be implementing. When we say leave the space, and you don’t leave the space, and I get there with my boys, we will beat you,” he stated.

The warning was delivered during a press conference on Monday, April 14, 2025, where he announced plans for a decongestion exercise aimed at clearing traders from pavements and roadsides.

Mr. Boadi further emphasized, “In the middle of Adum, if I’m alone, you will be lucky, but if I’m with my ten boys, in their pick-up with their whips, trust me, we will beat you. If you don’t want to experience that kind of situation, do what is right and lawful.”

He stressed the importance of maintaining order in Kumasi, dubbing it “Otumfoo’s city” and the “garden city of West Africa,” adding, “We have to preserve it. If you want the job to be difficult for me, I will let your body feel the difficulty you are giving to me.”

Mr. Boadi clarified that he does not expect to be criticized or labeled as ruthless when implementing these measures and urged traders to comply voluntarily to avoid confrontation.

We’ll march to Jubilee House if… – Mining Union on Gold Fields Damang lease https://www.adomonline.com/well-march-to-jubilee-house-if-mining-union-on-gold-fields-damang-lease/ Tue, 15 Apr 2025 09:42:37 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2525384 General Secretary of the Ghana Mine Workers’ Union, Abdul-Moomin Gbana, has raised concerns over the government’s decision not to renew Gold Fields’ Damang mining lease.

He warned of its potential impact on over 1,000 workers and contractors.

The current 30-year lease, granted on April 18, 1995, is set to expire on April 18, 2025.

The government’s move not to renew the lease is part of efforts to reshape the country’s mining landscape for greater national benefit, but it has also sparked fears of job losses and uncertainty among workers.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Gbana described the situation as worrying, especially given the lack of clear communication from the government.

“We cannot just sit down and accept this. If we reach April 18 and nothing has been put in place for the affected workers, we will be left with no choice but to march to the Minerals Commission, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources — and even to the Jubilee House if necessary,” he said.

Mr. Gbana stressed that Gold Fields has consistently honoured its financial obligations and paid workers’ salaries since operations began, making the government’s decision even more confusing.

“Since we started working with Gold Fields, they have not defaulted on salaries or payments. If care is not taken, after April 18, workers might not get anything,” he added.

He also questioned the government’s plans for the large number of workers and contractors who will be affected by the lease expiration.

“Gold Fields has a lot of workers and contractors — in total, we are talking about close to 1,000 people. What will happen to them? What plan does the government have for these people?” he quizzed.

MINING WORKERS ON DAMANG

Mr. Gbana urged the government and the Minerals Commission to be transparent and follow due process when handling matters concerning the mining industry.

“We know the Minerals and Mining Act has clear guidelines. If Gold Fields must go through due process, government should make that clear. But if it’s just about ending the lease to hand it over to others, then it’s not right,” he said.

The union leader also appealed for calm but warned that workers will not hesitate to take action if their concerns are not addressed.

“We don’t want uncertainties. Government must do the right thing and be clear with the workers. We will stand together and I will personally lead them to demand what is fair if necessary,” Mr. Bawa concluded.

Bawku conflict was not dormant when NDC came to power – Upper East Regional Minister https://www.adomonline.com/bawku-conflict-was-not-dormant-when-ndc-came-to-power-upper-east-regional-minister/ Mon, 14 Apr 2025 10:35:40 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2524897 The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, has clarified that the protracted Bawku conflict was still active when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) assumed power, contrary to claims suggesting otherwise.

According to him, the NDC government under President John Mahama inherited the conflict in its active phase and has since been working to bring it under control.

“When the NDC came to power, the Bawku conflict was not dormant. It was still in an active mood, and the President and his government have been trying their best to bring it down,” the minister explained.

He stressed in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem that the situation was not escalating under Mahama’s administration, as some people have suggested. Instead, efforts are being made to ensure lasting peace.

“President Mahama was simply telling the people that he would do his best to find a lasting solution to the conflict. He has already begun taking steps toward that goal,” he added.

MINISTER ON BAWKU CRISIS

Mr. Atanga also disclosed the role of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in the peace efforts, describing him as a neutral figure whose involvement is expected to help resolve the crisis.

“That’s why Otumfuo has been tasked to step in and tap into his conflict resolution experience to bring lasting peace to Bawku,” he said.

His comments come in response to claims that the Bawku conflict tends to flare up under both NDC and NPP administrations.

Touching on the recent killing of two police officers at Poyamirea, a community near Binduri in the Upper East Region, the minister clarified that the officers were not part of any security operation in Bawku.

“They were not policemen operating around the Bawku area. The two officers were stationed at Bongo and not posted to the conflict zone,” he explained.

Mr. Atanga further dismissed suggestions that the attack was carried out by youth targeting the police.

“It’s not like the youth went around attacking police officers. The officers came from Bongo into the area and were unfortunately shot. They were not assigned there, and we don’t yet understand why the shooting happened,” he noted.

He urged the public to remain patient as investigations continue, revealing that initial arrests had been made but none had been sustained.

“Negotiations are still ongoing, and we hope that things will cool down. Otumfuo’s team are also working to help resolve the matter,” he said.

Mr. Atanga assured residents of the region that security personnel are on the ground not only to maintain law and order but also to support the mediation process led by the Asantehene.

“There is currently a bit of calm in the area, and we are hopeful that with Otumfuo’s involvement, a lasting resolution will be found,” he concluded.

Mahama is the President of Ghana, not a kid – Nana Yaa Jantuah on suspicious flights https://www.adomonline.com/mahama-is-the-president-of-ghana-not-a-kid-nana-yaa-jantuah-on-suspicious-flights/ Fri, 11 Apr 2025 12:09:45 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2524277 Presidential Staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has responded to recent claims by Assin South MP, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour on two suspicious flights, stating that President John Dramani Mahama is not a child and is capable of handling national security matters appropriately.

Her comments follow President Mahama’s directive for the security agencies to probe Fordjour’s allegations that two aircraft—AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B—had entered the country carrying cocaine and large sums of U.S. currency.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Madam Jantuah said as the head of security in the country, Mahama had likely already conducted investigations before any public discussions on the matter.

She explained, “President Mahama is the head of security in this country, President Mahama is not a kid, he is the President of Ghana and so how do you think he hasn’t done any investigations even before the issue came out?”

She also defended President Mahama’s decision to instruct national security to liaise with other agencies, noting, “When he is the President, they want to treat him like a nobody and treat someone else like a king.”

Madam Jantuah further criticized opposition members who have called for a committee to investigate the issue, suggesting that if preliminary investigations had already concluded there was no merit to the claims, there was no need for further inquiries.

“There’s something called preliminary investigations, and if they’ve already done their investigations and realized there’s nothing to the claims from Ntim Fordjour, why form a committee like the minority is suggesting to the government?” she questioned.

NANA YAA ON MAHAMA NOT A KID

In her view, the opposition NPP was simply making noise without merit.

“The NPP are just behaving like women, complaining for no reason. Why are they running away?” she said.

Meanwhile, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, has dismissed the allegations as politically motivated and lacking merit.

But Madam Jantuah said Mr. Ofosu’s comments, stating that his assertion that the allegations lacked merit likely reflected the findings of the preliminary investigations.

“Felix saying the allegations lack merit means the preliminary investigations show that indeed the case lacks merit,” she concluded.

Nobody is being intimidated – Nana Yaa Jantuah on NIB’s failed attempt to arrest Ntim Fordjour https://www.adomonline.com/nobody-is-being-intimidated-nana-yaa-jantuah-on-nibs-failed-attempt-to-arrest-ntim-fordjour/ Fri, 11 Apr 2025 12:08:12 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2524270 Presidential Staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has dismissed claims of intimidation following the attempted arrest of Assin South MP, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour.

On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) invaded and attempted to arrest Rev. Fordjour at his residence in Spintex.

The move came after Rev. Fordjour raised concerns about two suspicious flights that landed at Kotoka International Airport, suggesting they were connected to possible drug trafficking and money laundering.

A former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), who described Rev. Fordjour as a friend, criticized his actions, stating that what he did was wrong and inappropriate.

“Don’t use the media to talk about the image of your country. If you have concerns, you should trust the Speaker and bring the matter to them, especially when it is of national interest,” she said.

She also questioned Rev. Fordjour’s claims, asking, “Who would leave a plane with cocaine on it for five days? It doesn’t make sense.”

She further stated that if Rev. Fordjour had real evidence, he should have gone through proper channels, instead of taking the matter to the media.

“No one is intimidating anybody. He needs to stand firm and go through whatever comes his way. If he hasn’t done anything wrong, the truth will eventually come out” she said in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.

NANA YAA ON NTIM ARREST

Madam Jantuah also expressed concern about the timing of these claims, wondering why such accusations of intimidation were not raised during previous governments.

“Who has actually done anything to someone, apart from Fordjour?” she asked.

She noted that Rev. Fordjour’s actions had serious implications.

“Now, even if you travel, you’ll be searched like you’ve done something wrong because he has tarnished the country’s image.”

NPP did worse things; Mahama is only giving them farmgate treatment – Nana Yaa Jantuah https://www.adomonline.com/npp-did-worse-things-mahama-is-only-giving-them-farmgate-treatment-nana-yaa-jantuah/ Fri, 11 Apr 2025 10:39:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2524216 Presidential Staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has accused members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of crying foul over alleged intimidation by the Mahama-led administration.

In a statement, Jantuah explained that President John Mahama has been calm and gentle with the NPP, especially when compared to the actions of the NPP while they were in power.

Jantuah, a former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), made these remarks in response to recent raids on the homes of former government officials, including a failed attempt by operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to arrest Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour,, at his residence in Spintex on Wednesday.

The incident followed allegations that two suspicious flights had landed at Kotoka International Airport, reportedly carrying drugs and cash.

The raid was described by some as politically motivated, with claims that it was an attempt to use security agencies to intimidate and harass opposition members.

However, in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Jantuah rejected these claims, stating that the NPP members were being treated far better than they deserved.

“They did worse things, and for them, Mahama is giving them farmgate treatment. What exactly is being done to NPP members? Where is the intimidation here? We have to separate the human aspect from those engaged in vandalism,” she stated.

Jantuah also criticized the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee for going public with his findings.

“Why do you even come to the media after you had the tip-off? If he doesn’t trust anybody, at least he should trust his Speaker, or there is someone he can trust because this is of national interest. Who leaves evidence in any clandestine activity?” she chided.

Kwakye Ofosu should be sacked – Nana B [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/kwakye-ofosu-should-be-sacked-nana-b-audio/ Thu, 10 Apr 2025 11:37:46 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2523759 The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has called for the immediate dismissal of Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Nana B expressed strong disapproval over comments made by Mr. Kwakye Ofosu concerning recent allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering involving two aircraft that transited through Ghana.

Nana B criticised the Abura Asebu Kwamankese MP for publicly downplaying calls for an investigation into the suspected illicit activities, which were brought to light by Assin South MP, Rev. Ntim Fordjour

Rev. Fordjour had alleged that two flights—AirMed flight NH23AM and Cavok Air private jet Antonov AN-12B—landed in Ghana between March 20 and March 25, 2025, allegedly carrying cocaine and a large sum of cash.

In response, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu referred to Rev. Fordjour as a “noisemaker” and remarked that if he were President Mahama, he would have ignored the Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee. Nonetheless, Mr. Ofosu admitted that an investigation was needed to set the right precedent.

Nana B, however, maintained that Mr. Kwakye Ofosu’s comments directly undermined the President’s authority.

“The President directed all security agencies to collaborate with Ntim Fordjour for investigations, and yet you have the Spokesperson, Kwakye Ofosu, contradicting him. He must not remain the President’s Spokesperson—he must be sacked,” Nana B stated.

“We all respect the President and gave him the mandate to lead. Why should Kwakye Ofosu act with such impunity? He’s making a mockery of the number one gentleman of the land,” he added.

Meanwhile, officials from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on Wednesday stormed Rev. Fordjour’s residence in Spintex in an attempt to arrest him. However, the operation was halted after NPP members intervened and gathered at the scene.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Nana B stated that Rev. Ntim Fordjour possesses evidence in the case, but criticized the actions of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), who stormed the lawmaker’s home without showing an arrest warrant.

“Rev. Ntim Fordjour has concrete evidence to back his position, but the conduct of the NIB officials is wrong. They should have followed due process,” Nana B stated.

The standoff occurred on April 9, when NIB officials attempted to arrest the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, without following the proper legal channels.

The incident has sparked widespread concern regarding the NIB’s approach.

Nana B questioned why the NIB did not go through the Speaker of Parliament before attempting to arrest the lawmaker at his residence.

“Why didn’t they go through the Speaker of Parliament, as required by the constitution? Even the President has advised that institutions must work to investigate such matters properly,” he said.

He also expressed his disappointment with Government Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who dismissed concerns over the incident, calling it a “bad precedent.” Nana B stated, “It’s not a joke. If I had sensitive information like this, I wouldn’t feel confident either. Why would they storm his house in such a Rambo-style operation?”

NANA B ON NTIM

The NPP official called for a commission of inquiry into the matter, highlighting the importance of following the correct legal procedures.

“We are law-abiding citizens and expect institutions to respect the process. They must go through the proper channels,” he stated firmly.

He praised Rev. Ntim Fordjour for his resilience in the face of these challenges.

“Ntim is my hero right now. He is strong, resilient, and refuses to be intimidated. He will stand firm,” Nana B said.

He also warned that such actions could backfire, especially if the NDC continues down this path. “If they don’t take care, the NDC will bring shame to President Mahama,” Nana B added.

Ghana Used Clothing Dealers Association in Accra declares strike action https://www.adomonline.com/ghana-used-clothing-dealers-association-in-accra-declares-strike-action/ Thu, 10 Apr 2025 11:00:33 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2523634 The Ghana Used Clothing Dealers Association, Accra Chapter, has declared a strike action for Thursday, April 10, 2025, in response to what they call “continued defamatory statements and publications” by the OR Foundation.

This foundation has frequently criticized the secondhand clothing trade in Ghana, particularly the activities within the Kantamanto Market.

In a statement, the association accused the OR Foundation of spreading “false, unbalanced, and damaging narratives” about the industry.

They claim these reports have misrepresented their operations and overlooked the significant contributions the used clothing sector makes to the economy, including job creation, poverty reduction, and providing sustainable livelihoods for many Ghanaians.

Speaking to Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Aikins Boakye Mensah, an executive member of the association, said the strike is aimed at defending the dignity of used clothing dealers and protecting the reputation of Ghana.

The dealers are demanding that the OR Foundation stop its defamatory statements and call for responsible and factual reporting on the industry.

The association stressed that they are peaceful traders but will not remain silent in the face of unfair attacks. The objectives of the strike include:

  • Demanding an end to defamatory statements from the OR Foundation
  • Defending the dignity and livelihood of used clothing dealers in Accra
  • Safeguarding Ghana’s image both locally and internationally
  • Calling for responsible and factual reporting on the secondhand clothing industry

“We are peaceful traders, but we will not sit silently as our industry and country are unfairly attacked. This strike is a unified action to defend our space, our people, and our country’s reputation” ,” Boakye Mensah said.

We are all worried but…. – Sampson Ahi on Trump tariffs [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/we-are-all-worried-but-sampson-ahi-on-trump-tariffs-listen/ Wed, 09 Apr 2025 09:47:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2523233 Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Sampson Ahi, has expressed concern over the recent 10% tariff imposed on Ghanaian exports by U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Ahi assured Ghanaians that the government is actively working to resolve the issue through diplomatic negotiations.

“We are very worried about the impact this tariff could have, especially on jobs and businesses in the export sector. But we are determined to engage the United States to ensure that Ghana is not unfairly targeted,” he said.

According to him, the United States government has informed affected countries that it is open to negotiations, and Ghana intends to take full advantage of that window.

“We will meet them country by country and put our case on the table. We’ve already had an initial meeting with the US Embassy here in Accra, and we’re confident that the outcome of that discussion has been forwarded to Washington,” he noted.

The Deputy Minister’s comments followed a high-level meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer.

The meeting was triggered by Washington’s decision to include cocoa—Ghana’s leading export commodity—on the list of products affected by the tariff, despite the fact that the U.S. does not produce cocoa itself.

But Mr. Ahi said the decision is surprising and concerning, especially because cocoa is a critical part of Ghana’s economy.

AHI ON US TARRIF

“But we are looking at the possibility of meeting again, this time at a higher diplomatic level, to push the negotiations further,” he added.

He said the government is lobbying for a tariff waiver and will ensure Ghana is part of any exemption arrangement the U.S. may put in place.

“We want to make sure Ghana continues to export to the U.S. market without tariffs. That is our goal,” Mr. Ahi stated.

He called for calm, urging the public not to panic over the issue.

“We understand the concerns, and we are doing our best to ensure the right thing is done. Ghanaians should be calm as we work through this,” he assured.

Mr. Ahi also reiterated the government’s commitment to adding value to agricultural exports through President Mahama’s agribusiness initiatives.

“We are working hard to ensure that the agribusiness sector thrives. The private sector should take full advantage of the opportunities being created, especially for non-traditional crops destined for the U.S. market,” he assured.

Mahama’s directive for probe into suspicious flights was in order but… – Abu Jinapor [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/mahamas-directive-for-probe-into-suspicious-flights-was-in-order-but-abu-jinapor-audio/ Tue, 08 Apr 2025 17:36:32 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2523134 Damango Member of Parliament (MP), Samuel Abu Jinapor, has commended former President John Mahama for his swift directive to investigate the suspicious flights linked to money laundering and drug trafficking.

In an interview on Asempa FM Ekosii Sen, the Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee expressed support for the President’s actions, stating, “I believe all Ghanaians supported the directive because it was in the right direction. When it comes to the drug trade, it is a highly sophisticated cartel that can beat the government multiple times without any suspicion or knowledge.”

Rev. Ntim Fordjour sparked public debate after alleging that two flights—AirMed flight NH23AM and Cavok Air private jet Antonov AN 12 B—landed in Ghana between March 20 and March 25, 2025, allegedly carrying suspected cocaine and a large sum of cash.

Jinapor added that it is possible the President was unaware of the situation until Rev. Fordjour made the matter public, given the nature of the drug trade.

“Some people manage to evade arrest or get out of custody, so it is even possible the President wasn’t aware until Ntim Fordjour came public,” he explained.

In response to Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who dismissed the probe as a waste of time, Jinapor questioned why the MP for Abura Asebu Kwamankes would reject the President’s directive.

“Felix came to dismiss the probe, stating it will be a waste of our time and that the claims were untrue, but how can you know the truth if there is no investigation?” Jinapor questioned.

The former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources stressed that a thorough investigation is essential to resolve the issue and uncover the truth.

“At the moment, there are several accounts on why the flights landed in Ghana with so many public debates, but we still do not have any comprehensive and transparent probe or report,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Twum Barimah, has urged Rev. Fordjour to cooperate with ongoing investigations.

In an interview with Joy News, Mr. Barimah emphasized that Fordjour’s cooperation would be crucial in apprehending those allegedly involved in the case.

Suspicious flights: What has Ntim Fordjour done to warrant his arrest? – Abu Jinapor questions [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/suspicious-flights-what-has-ntim-fordjour-done-to-warrant-his-arrest-abu-jinapor-questions-video/ Tue, 08 Apr 2025 17:05:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2523118 Member Parliament(MP) for Damongo and Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has raised questions about what Assin South MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has done to warrant his arrest over allegations related to suspicious flights.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr. Jinapor said “What has he done that warrants his arrest? If he is arrested, what would be the legal basis for detaining him? The concept of arrest is often used a bit loosely in Ghana.”

Mr. Jinapor, a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), further explained that being arrested doesn’t necessarily mean being detained, noting that the legal framework determines whether someone can be held.

“When law enforcement is conducting investigations, they can invite or arrest you as a suspect. However, when you are arrested, it doesn’t mean you will be detained as many Ghanaians may think,” he said.

He continued, “Whether or not you will be detained is governed by law, not by public opinion.”

The lawmaker also stated that, in his experience as Deputy Chief of Staff, he saw many things and tried to ensure the law worked fairly.

“In government, you cannot even predict when things will go your way, so we should allow the law and the rule of law to prevail.”

The controversy stems from allegations made by Rev. Fordjour concerning two aircraft that were allegedly linked to drug trafficking and money laundering.

Rev. Fordjour, citing intelligence sources, claimed that the aircraft might have been transporting illicit substances, including cocaine and large sums of U.S. dollars.

However, some members of the opposition, including Sammy Gyamfi, National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Felix Kwakye Ofosu, have called for the arrest of Rev. Fordjour, demanding that he substantiates his claims or face legal consequences.

But Mr. Jinapor, while acknowledging the gravity of the allegations, defended Rev. Fordjour’s character.

“Rev. Fordjour is an excellent gentleman and knows what he is doing. He’s not trying to deliberately tarnish Ghana’s image,” Jinapor stated.

He also urged all parties to allow for an investigation to take place.

“Let’s all sober down and let’s find a way to bring this matter to a conclusion. People say things in the heat of the moment. We should relax and allow the laws to work,” he urged.

I’ve worked with many people, but DJ Awanna was humble – Daddy Bosco [Video] https://www.adomonline.com/ive-worked-with-many-people-but-dj-awanna-was-humble-daddy-bosco-video/ Mon, 07 Apr 2025 12:01:25 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2522453 Former Adom FM Programmes Manager, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, popularly known as Daddy Bosco, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Multimedia Group staff, DJ Awanna.

DJ Awana, born Samuel Tei Mensah Nartey, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the 37 Military Hospital after a short illness.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Daddy Bosco, who played a pivotal role in DJ Awanna’s early career, said the news of his death shocked and devastated him. However, he finds solace in the memories and the legacy Awanna left behind.

“We were about to start Adom FM in Tema and we needed a DJ, so I brought in Awana,” he said. “I have worked with many people, but he was a very humble guy. I taught him what he needed to do and he delivered exceptionally.”

Daddy Bosco recalled discovering Awanna while he was working with a group called Solar Record. Recognising his talent and humility, he mentored Awana, urging him to focus on technical mastery instead of just on-air presentation.

“There were many of them, but he was the most receptive. He would take everything in good faith and execute it. He was a cheerful guy, never held a grudge, and always had a smile,” he noted.

He also shared details of their last interaction. Just a few days before Awana’s passing, Bosco contacted him to DJ at the funeral of Osibisa band member Teddy Osei.

“I reached out to him around 9 to 10 p.m., but he told me he wasn’t well and was at 37. He suggested Bridash, but I declined, even though I knew Bridash was up to the task as Awanna’s trainee,” he recounted.

Daddy Bosco said though Awana is no longer with them, his legacy continues through the young DJs he mentored.

“He has contributed greatly to music in Ghana and I believe his name will not be forgotten,” he added.

His dedication was unmatched – Abeiku Santana mourns DJ Awanna [Watch] https://www.adomonline.com/his-dedication-was-unmatched-abeiku-santana-mourns-dj-awanna-watch/ Mon, 07 Apr 2025 10:43:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2522466 The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, popularly known as Abeiku Santana, has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of veteran Ghanaian disc jockey and staff member of the Multimedia Group, Samuel Tei Mensah Nartey, known as DJ Awanna.

DJ Awana passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the 37 Military Hospital after a short illness.

He had a remarkable career that spanned over two decades, beginning with Adom FM when the station was operating in Tema.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Abeiku Santana, a former colleague of DJ Awanna, shared how he heard the news.

“I saw the post on social media, and I immediately reached out to some old colleagues who have worked with Adom FM over the years to confirm. When they confirmed it, people started pouring out their condolences. We were all shocked and devastated,” he said.

Abeiku Santana recalled how he met DJ Awanna when he joined Multimedia in 2001.

“At that time, Adom FM was about to undergo a reengineering and renovation process. Multimedia didn’t have a DJ assistant to play songs for them when I started at Adom FM. I wanted to focus on my presentation, so I decided to get a DJ assistant,” he explained.

Abeiku reached out to Yaw Nkrumah, a colleague, who recommended DJ Awana.

“I was the first person Awanna worked with, and he came in as a casual worker. His dedication was amazing. He would come in very early and stay late,” Abeiku shared.

Impressed by his work ethic, Abeiku, who was then the host of Ofie Kwanso on Adom FM, made a case for DJ Awanna to be employed full-time at Adom FM in its early days when the station was located in Tema.”

“As time went on, we needed more DJs, and I later recommended Papa Bills, who was also a fantastic DJ,” Abeiku added.

Although DJ Awanna later left Adom FM for Oman FM, Abeiku explained that by the time Awana returned to Adom FM, he had already moved to another media house.

Despite the changes, their bond remained strong.

Abeiku Santana also reflected on the iconic jingle that DJ Awanna was known for.

“It was Obour, the former MUSIGA president, who did that jingle for him: ‘Onie oo, AWANNA nie ooo.’ Awanna loved people and was very friendly,” Abeiku said, his voice tinged with emotion.

He expressed how deeply saddened he was upon hearing of DJ Awanna’s death.

“I was very sad when I heard the news, and I couldn’t control myself. God should take care of his soul,” he said.

Abeiku encouraged everyone to live by the word of God and reflected on the fleeting nature of life.

“God created us, and we came from God. We must always remind ourselves that we are here to worship God and fulfill His will. DJ Awanna’s demise should remind us that we are created in God’s image, and we have a duty to protect it. God will ask us for an account when the time comes,” he mourned.

He concluded with a message of hope, “If someone is in God, even in death, they are in God. We should celebrate Awanna’s good life so that heaven will remember him.”

The Ghanaian media landscape has lost a true legend in DJ Awana, and his colleagues, including Abeiku Santana, are remembering his life and legacy with fondness and gratitude.

Kwakye Ofosu and Ntim Fordjour clash on social media over flight claims after Newsfile https://www.adomonline.com/kwakye-ofosu-and-ntim-fordjour-clash-on-social-media-over-flight-claims-after-newsfile/ Sat, 05 Apr 2025 15:11:10 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2522159 A fiery exchange ensued between the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, and the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

This follows an alleged drug trafficking and money laundering involving two aircraft that passed through Ghana.

The public spat saw both figures accuse each other of diverting attention from serious national issues and resorting to personal insults in the process.

The clash began when Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the first to strike, called Mr Fordjour a “clown” in response to criticisms of the government’s handling of high-profile alleged drug busts, money laundering activities, and suspicious flights.

Rev Fordjour had just stormed away from JoyNews’ Newsfile on the same matter where he had debated NDC Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, in another heated argument.

On the programme, Mr Gyamfi had called for the arrest of Rev. Fordjour, insisting he must substantiate his claims or face legal consequences.

Mr Gyamfi argued that in other jurisdictions, such serious allegations against a sitting government would not go unpunished if found to be false.

“In other jurisdictions, he would have been blacklisted.

He stressed that if the MP refuses to honour a National Security invitation, he should be arrested and compelled to provide evidence to support his claims.

“If he doesn’t honour the invitation [by National Security] to him and he thinks that he can hide behind his parliamentary privileges, he lie bad. Because he will be arrested. Some of us will insist that he is arrested and you must substantiate that.”

But it appears the Assin South MP had more on his plate despite storming off the show during a brief break after suggesting that he had not been treated fairly.

On X, Mr Ofosu accused Rev Fordjour of being involved in spreading misinformation and misleading the public, calling the parliamentarian’s comments unsubstantiated and irresponsible.

“What a clown!” Mr Ofosu tweeted. “You have no proof, no basis, and cannot show same in even a thousand years. Even when clear facts are presented to you, you still remain pigheaded in your lies. That is being a clown, my friend!” he wrote.

However, Mr Fordjour quickly hit back, escalating the argument with scathing remarks about the Minister’s handling of ongoing investigations into Ghana’s involvement in cocaine trafficking and financial crimes.

He accused Mr Ofosu of being emotionally invested in shielding alleged drug cartels and money launderers from prosecution, thus undermining legitimate oversight efforts.

“When cocaine and money laundering activities are exposed and questioned, you expose your emotional connections to these transnational crimes, shield cocaine cartels and money launderers from prosecution, and resort to insults!” Rev Fordjour retorted.

He also added “Instead of providing answers to the high-profile cocaine busts, money laundering and suspicious flights, you’re here using 78.8 million of Ghanaian taxpayers’ money to peddle insults! Where is the cocaine and laundered money, Felix, my good friend?”

Mr Ofosu also pointed out the Minister’s lack of response to the real issues, instead accusing him of deflecting attention from the serious matters at hand by engaging in baseless personal attacks.

“You are wasting everyone’s time by debasing Parliamentary oversight to peddle infantile lies!” Mr Ofosu continued.

“You have no proof, no basis, and cannot show the truth in even a thousand years.”

Meanwhile, security analyst, Dr. Kwesi Aning, is worried over how sensitive security-related information is being handled by some Members of Parliament.

Dr. Aning, speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile, noted that while security oversight is important, such issues must be approached with care and professionalism, especially by individuals with security clearance.

“What I mean for Kofi, and I can do that as a civil society activist and as scholars, but as a Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Interior with oversight responsibilities for a lot of our security institutions, and hopefully having security clearance… Such information must be handled differently,” Dr. Aning said.

He further criticised what he described as the politicisation of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament.

“And I think we need to discuss, elevate the conversation, as to how people in sensitive positions, who have clearance and may, because of that clearance, have access to information that is useful to securing our space to handle that information,” he added on Saturday, April 5.

If I were President Mahama, I would ignore ‘noisemaker’ Ntim Fordjour – Kwakye Ofosu https://www.adomonline.com/if-i-were-president-mahama-i-would-ignore-noisemaker-ntim-fordjour-kwakye-ofosu/ Fri, 04 Apr 2025 17:16:57 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2521981 The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed allegations by Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, regarding a “suspicious aircraft” that landed at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said the claims were baseless and a waste of time.

“If I were President Mahama, I would have ignored noisemaker Ntim Fordjour. He is just lying and wasting everyone’s time. I respect him as my friend, brother, and neighbour, but he is making baseless allegations with no evidence,” he said.

Rev. Ntim Fordjour alleged that two flights—AirMed flight NH23AM and Cavok Air private jet Antonov AN 12 B—landed in Ghana between March 20 and March 25, 2025, carrying suspected cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has since called for investigations.

However, Kwakye Ofosu dismissed the claims, arguing that if the NPP had any proof, they would have presented it publicly.

“If he had evidence, NPP people who love propaganda would have shown videos and pictures. They wouldn’t even wait for an invitation,” he stated.

He also revealed that after the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) invited Rev. Ntim Fordjour for questioning, the MP refused, claiming he was speaking on behalf of a parliamentary committee.

“As we speak, after initially avoiding the invitation, the NIB has now written to the Speaker of Parliament to release him for investigations. When he goes, he should go and waste their time like he is doing to us now,” Kwakye Ofosu added.

He noted that MP cannot make unsubstantiated allegations and escape scrutiny.

“You cannot just wake up and throw out accusations that a plane carried cocaine when you have no evidence to support your claims. We cannot tolerate this,” he insisted.

If you don’t like our polls, put it in the bin – Mussa Dankwah [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/if-you-dont-like-our-polls-put-it-in-the-bin-mussa-dankwah-audio/ Fri, 04 Apr 2025 13:03:04 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2521844 The Executive Director and Head of Global Research at Global InfoAnalytics, Musah Dankwah, has refuted claims of bias following a post-election poll conducted by the research firm.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Dankwah emphasized that Global InfoAnalytics is an independent polling organization with no political affiliation and operates without influence from any political agenda.

“We are pollsters, and whether they like it or not, they should accept it. They are not going to tell us how to do our work,” he said.

Mr. Dankwah explained that Global InfoAnalytics conducts polls for professional purposes and shares the findings with the public, regardless of any criticism.

“We are not a think tank or a pressure group; we are a company, and we are not doing anyone’s bidding. If you don’t want to listen to us, just put it in the bin,” he added.

He further defended the credibility of the firm, citing their strong track record of accurate predictions. “During the 2024 elections, they attacked us, saying I was mad and had an agenda against the NPP. But our predictions—from the regional and national levels to the constituencies—were over 90 percent accurate,” he said.

As an example, he referred to the Dome Kwabenya constituency, where critics dismissed their prediction that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) would win.

“They told us we were mad, but in the end, who won? The NDC. They should learn from this,” Mr. Dankwah remarked.

A recent post-election poll by Global InfoAnalytics revealed that 68% of respondents hold former President Nana Akufo-Addo responsible for the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

MUSAH ON THOSE WHO DONT BELIEVE THEM

He cited the Dome Kwabenya constituency as an example, recalling how critics dismissed their prediction that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) would win the seat.

“They told us we were mad, but in the end, who won? The NDC. They should learn from this,” he added.

Meanwhile, a post-election poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics has revealed that 68% of respondents hold former President Nana Akufo-Addo responsible for the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Even in America, people are interested in who’ll run in 2028 election – Mussa Dankwah justifies early poll  https://www.adomonline.com/even-in-america-people-are-interested-in-wholl-run-in-2028-election-mussa-dankwah-justifies-early-poll/ Fri, 04 Apr 2025 12:53:22 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2521840 The Executive Director and Head of Global Research at Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, has fired back at critics who think it is too early to discuss the 2028 general elections when the country is still only four months into a new government.

Critics have questioned the timing of the recent poll conducted by his outfit, but Mr. Dankwah defended the early release of the survey, stating that people’s views will evolve.

“At every point in time, people will have a view, and as time goes on, that view may change. We want to know from the beginning, where were you, and now, where have you gotten?” he questioned.

Mr. Dankwah went on to point out that one of the major problems in Ghana, and Africa in general, is the lack of interest in tracking numbers from the start.

“The problem we have in this country and Africa in general is that we don’t care to know what the numbers are from the beginning,” he explained.

He made these comments during an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem.

His comments came after a new poll by Global InfoAnalytics revealed that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the leading contender for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position ahead of the 2028 general election.

The survey found that 48% of Ghanaians prefer Dr. Bawumia to lead the party again, placing him firmly at the forefront of the NPP leadership race.

The poll shows Dr. Bawumia has a significant lead over other potential candidates. Kennedy Agyapong, who contested in the 2024 NPP primaries, garnered 25%, while Dr. Osei Adutwum secured 13%. The remaining candidates collectively earned 14%.

But Mr. Dankwah stressed the importance of knowing the baseline numbers early on.

“If you are in 2024 and tomorrow the number drops or goes high, you will know. You must know the baseline to assess whether you are improving or not. This is like a baseline to help and guide everyone.”

MUSA DANKWA ON WHY NOW

He also pointed out that others are already actively campaigning for the 2026 flagbearership, questioning whether they have been told to stop because it’s too early.

“That is life, and people will plan their future from day one. It’s natural, so we just have to accept the realities,” he said.

Mr. Dankwah noted that as pollsters, their job is to gauge the sentiments of the people and understand what they think at different points in time.

“We are not doing this for them (the critics), but we believe there is value in what we are doing for our own work, not for them.”

He also referenced the United States, where discussions about the 2028 presidential race have already begun.

“Even in America, they are asking who will run for 2028. So, we don’t want to ignore what the numbers say. You must know the baseline to guide everyone. People are already campaigning, and people plan their lives from day one. As pollsters, we just want to know what the people say,” he added.

I’ll be surprised if a young person doesn’t lead NDC in 2028 – Mussa Dankwah https://www.adomonline.com/ill-be-surprised-if-a-young-person-doesnt-lead-ndc-in-2028-mussa-dankwah/ Fri, 04 Apr 2025 12:37:31 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2521842

The Executive Director and Head of Global Research at Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, says he would be surprised if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for the 2028 elections is not a young person.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Dankwah emphasized that polling data and the demographics of Ghana make it favorable for a younger candidate to lead the NDC.

He pointed out that the youthful population will play a crucial role as the “kingmakers” in the 2028 election.

“I will be surprised if the NDC’s flagbearer in 2028 is not a young person because of the structure of the population, even within the NDC. The album will comprise young people, and in the end, we will look at the age group that will make the final decision. The selected candidate must resonate with the decision-makers,” he said.

Mr. Dankwah’s comment follows a survey on potential candidates for the NDC’s 2028 flagbearer race.

According to the Global InfoAnalytics survey, Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman is leading with 26% of voter preference.

She is closely followed by Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu with 19%, and Minister of Finance Dr. Ato Forson, who holds third place with 12%.

NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia secured 10% of voter support, placing him outside the top three contenders.

Other notable figures included Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, and Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, who both garnered 6% of voter support.

Mr. Dankwah believes that given the dominance of young people in the polls, it would be a logical decision for the party to select one of them as their flagbearer.

He also mentioned that Global InfoAnalytics will continue conducting similar surveys every 90 days to track voter preferences.

What to look out for before buying land – Professor Gyan advises [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/what-to-look-out-for-before-buying-land-professor-gyan-advises-listen/ Thu, 03 Apr 2025 18:11:54 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2521584 A lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law, Professor Kwame Gyan, has shared practical advice on what prospective land buyers should look out for before making a purchase.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, he disclosed several crucial points that can help buyers avoid costly mistakes.

  1. Check for damaged walls: “If the walls of the land are broken, don’t dare buy it,” Professor Gyan warned.

He explained that broken walls could indicate willful damage, which might be a sign of underlying issues with the property.

2. Be cautious of land that looks too good to be true: If a piece of land seems unusually well-developed or perfectly prepared, it could be a red flag.

“If it looks too good to be true, it may have been developed for a reason,” he cautioned, urging buyers to investigate thoroughly.

3. Build relationships: “First, cultivate friendships. The people you least expect will give you vital information about the land, whether it is good or not. Building good relationships with locals can help you gather crucial insights about the property’s history and ownership.

4. Timing is key: “Don’t buy land during the Harmattan season,” lawyer Gyan advised, explaining that the dry weather may not accurately reflect the land’s condition.

Instead, consider buying during the rainy season when the land’s features, like waterlogging, are more visible.

5. Avoid elephant grass: If you notice elephant grass growing on a piece of land, it’s best to avoid purchasing it.

“Just run, don’t buy,” he said, explaining that such grass often indicates the land may be waterlogged, which can be a significant issue for development.

6. Investigate adjoining owners: It’s also important to find out about the adjoining landowners and ask questions about the property.

“Ask more about the land to make sure you’re not stepping into someone else’s domain,” he advised.

LAWYER ON LANDS IN GHANA

Professor Gyan stressed that these are not mere theories but practical tips to ensure that buyers have accurate information before proceeding with land registration.

“These are the ground things you have to do to get firsthand or accurate information,” he added.

Before approaching the Land Commission to register the land, it’s essential to do thorough research and follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth and safe transaction.

Don’t listen to NPP’s noise – A Plus on alleged drug trafficking flight claims [Listen] https://www.adomonline.com/dont-listen-to-npps-noise-a-plus-on-alleged-drug-trafficking-flight-claims-listen/ Thu, 03 Apr 2025 17:19:26 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2521537 The Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central in the Central Region, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has advised Ghanaians to disregard the noise from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regarding the alleged drug trafficking flights into the country.

Speaking on the matter in an interview on Adom FM Dwaso Nsem show, A Plus stated that if anyone observes something suspicious, it is their duty to speak out and investigate.

“If someone sees something, then they have to investigate. There’s nothing wrong with pointing out something you’ve noticed. If they put an apple here, no matter the distraction, it will remain an apple,” he noted.

A Plus defended former President John Mahama, adding that he is someone who would even call for investigations when necessary.

“Mahama is a good human being. He’s been there, has the experience, and is ready to build the country,” he lauded.

In response to the NPP’s recent vocal outbursts, A Plus questioned their sudden confidence now that they are no longer in power.

“NPP people now have the courage to speak now that they have left power. I don’t know where they got their confidence from. Now that the NDC is in power, the NPP has started talking. They’re just talking, lying, and throwing dust into our eyes,” he claimed.

The lawmaker stated that Ghanaians should not take the NPP seriously, as he believes they are simply trying to distract the public with unnecessary noise.

“They have suddenly found their voice. If they have issues, they should go ahead and do the needful, but the talking is too much. Now they are seeing how it feels to be in opposition after making things difficult for Ghanaians during their tenure.”

The issue of the suspicious flights has sparked debate, particularly after the Assin South MP, Ntim Fordjour, raised concerns over two flights – AirMed flight NH23AM and Cavok Air private jet Antonov AN 12 B – which allegedly landed in Ghana between March 20 and March 25, 2025.

These flights are suspected of carrying cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash, and the NPP has called for investigations into the matter.

Your sudden confidence annoys me – A Plus tells NPP [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/your-sudden-confidence-annoys-me-a-plus-tells-npp-audio/ Thu, 03 Apr 2025 16:49:48 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2521503 Gomoa Central Member of Parliament, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has slammed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over what he describes as their sudden outspokenness after losing power.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, A Plus accused NPP members of ignoring public concerns during their tenure but now making noise on national issues after their defeat in the 2024 elections.

According to him, this newfound confidence is baffling and irritating.

“Suddenly, the NPP has found their voice after leaving power, and the NDC is sitting aloof. Just three days ago, people were being arrested for expressing their views. But now, I don’t even know where their confidence is coming from, and it makes me angry,” he fumed.

He also criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for being passive despite being in power. “Very soon, they [NPP] will sit on radio and TV and start crying that times are hard, but they suffocated and gagged people when they were in power,” he added.

His comments come amid controversy surrounding two aircraft suspected of engaging in illicit activities in Ghana.

Assin South MP, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, who is the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, has alleged that an air ambulance and a private jet may have been involved in drug trafficking or money laundering.

The flights in question—AirMed flight N823AM and Cavok Air’s Antonov An-12B—reportedly landed at Kotoka International Airport from Gran Canaria, Spain, before departing on March 25, 2025.

Rev. Fordjour claimed that intelligence reports suggested the AirMed flight N823AM, an air ambulance, did not transport any patients but instead carried suspicious cargo, allegedly containing cocaine and US dollars.

President John Mahama has since directed the National Security and relevant authorities to conduct a full-scale investigation into the matter and collaborate fully with the lawmaker.

While welcoming the President’s directive, A Plus urged Ghanaians not to take the NPP’s sudden stance on the issue seriously, dismissing it as mere political maneuvering. However, he expressed confidence that a thorough investigation would uncover the truth surrounding the aircraft’s activities.

According to him, if he had his way and resources, he would build a wall around Gomoa Central to show the country how serious they are about progress.

“If we had our way, we would build a wall around Gomoa Central. That way, before anyone enters Gomoa, they’ll see that we’re serious about our development,” he said in an interview on Adom FMs Dwaso Nsem morning Show.

He stressed his determination to make Gomoa Central a symbol of progress, saying, “I want to make Gomoa Central a new Ghana.”

A Plus, a first-time MP who ran as an independent candidate, also expressed his readiness to work with former President John Dramani Mahama to “reset” the country.

“I am ready to join President Mahama to reset the country—not just through infrastructure, but by resetting the mindset of the people. We’re very serious about this,” he added.

Reflecting on his first term in office, A Plus stated that the people of Gomoa Central voted for him because of the work he had done for the constituency.

“As an independent candidate, I did a lot for Gomoa Central, even before the election and that’s why the people voted for me. I’m committed to doing even more to ensure the growth of Gomoa Central,” he said.

He continued, “We’re going to show the country that Gomoa Central is ready for change, and I’ll do everything I can to help make that happen.”

His sole focus, he noted is on the development of his constituency.

“I don’t like any appointment. My focus is solely on Gomoa Central. I don’t want anything to distract me from the work I have to do for my people,” A Plus as he is popularly known made this known in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show.

A Plus also recalled a conversation with President John Mahama , where he made it clear that he did not want to be a minister.

“It’s not for you to tell Mahama or anyone else to give you an appointment. I am here to serve my people in Gomoa Central.

“I told the President, ‘I don’t want to be a minister. I want to focus on my work as an MP,” he declared.

Reflecting on his upbringing in Asebu, A Plus shared that he and his siblings had seen both struggle and comfort, which gave him insight into the challenges faced by those who are less fortunate.

“Growing up at Asebu, we saw a lot. Even those of us who had something, we felt the hardships. So, I understand how those who don’t have must feel,” he said.

A PLUS ON APPOINTMENT

As the MP for Gomoa Central, A Plus expressed his deep commitment to making a difference.

“As your brother, now an MP, I want to change the lives of the people of Gomoa Central. I will do whatever I can to alleviate the suffering of those who are struggling. I want to make sure that even those who don’t have, at least during my time, will have what they need,” he pledged.

He concluded by reiterating his commitment to his constituency, saying, “All my focus is on Gomoa Central. No distractions, no appointments. My work is for the people.”

Why I have reduced my social media participation – Prof. Kobby Mensah [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/why-i-have-reduced-my-social-media-participation-prof-kobby-mensah-audio/ Thu, 03 Apr 2025 16:05:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2521420 The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), Professor Kobby Mensah, has shared insights into his current focus and approach following his appointment.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Professor Mensah explained that he has drastically reduced his participation on social media to ensure he can concentrates on his responsibilities, particularly in advancing the tourism sector.

“I’ve had to focus more on my responsibilities to ensure that tourism reaches its peak, working closely with my colleagues. This includes getting staff paid, improving tourism attractions, and formulating strategies and visions for the sector.

“Those who monitor my social media activity will notice that I have significantly reduced my participation online. It’s because I need to channel my energy into the work at hand,” he stated.

Professor Mensah made it clear that this reduction in online engagement does not mean he has been silenced by the government due to his new role.

“It’s not about having your mouth full, but about fulfilling your responsibilities. I can critique the government’s performance, but right now, my focus is on using my energy to improve the system,” he said.

He noted that his goal is to make a meaningful impact through his vision and work, not through unnecessary commentary on general issues.

“If people listen to me, they’ll realize that I don’t comment on every issue. I am strategic in the issues I respond to. I believe in being impactful with my work, rather than just talking.”

When asked about his stance on the galamsey menace, Professor Mensah acknowledged its gravity but stressed the importance of experts addressing the matter.

“It’s a big issue, but there are people with the necessary expertise to talk about it. Those without competence can only speak to how bad it is.”

Professor Mensah concluded by affirming that his role is to use his skills and competence to address challenges in the tourism sector, ensuring that his work speaks louder than his words.

Professor Mensah stressed that while he cannot completely remove himself from the academic space, he stays engaged with the university.

“I cannot completely take myself out of the university, so I’m still involved in teaching this one course regularly.”

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, he stated that these desks would serve as hubs for promoting tourism and creating job opportunities for the youth.

“We are trying to get a tourism desk at Legon because Legon itself is a whole tourism attraction. When people visit the campus for conferences, we need to take them to key tourist sites,” he stated.

He added that similar desks would be set up at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and other universities.

“If we are able to do this, we can create more employment opportunities for the youth,” he noted.

KOBBY MENSAH ON TOURISM CAMPUS

Professor Mensah noted that their strategy aims to employ about 200 young people within the tourism sector by 2027.

Beyond the university tourism desks, he disclosed that GTDC is working on a major initiative called the “Ghana Tourism Marketplace” in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).

“This will be one of the most ambitious tourism marketplaces ever. If we succeed, we can create numerous job opportunities and generate millions of dollars in revenue,” he said.

He stressed that the project is geared towards boosting domestic tourism and addressing unemployment, which he described as one of the biggest challenges facing the government.

“Our focus is to create employment spaces through tourism, and we are committed to making that happen,” he concluded.

He noted that when President John Mahama called him about the role, he did not hesitate to accept it but felt elated.

“When I was called, I thought, why not? I was elated” he said.

Mr. Mahama disclosed this in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, denying any wrongdoing during his tenure.

He stressed that if he were involved in any wrongdoing, he would have no reason to flee and would instead present himself for the law to take its course.

Although Mr. Mahama revealed that the committee tasked with probing the missing containers did not contact him, he said he was committed to ensuring the truth comes out.

“We are all human and servants of Ghana. If I had committed any crime in this country, why wouldn’t I subject myself to investigation?

“Suddenly, it seems people have forgotten about all the previous Managing Directors, and the only name on people’s lips is Dubik Mahama,” he vowed.

The scandal, which has shaken the nation, involves the disappearance of over 1,300 containers carrying equipment intended to support ECG operations.

Meanwhile, some of the missing containers have been located, with several individuals, including Ghanaians and Chinese nationals, arrested in connection with the incident.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Mahama responded to allegations surrounding the missing containers, which contain critical electrical equipment intended for national power distribution.

He questioned the rationale behind the committee’s failure to reach out to him.

“The investigative team never contacted me, but my name was mentioned in the report. Meanwhile, I have not gone anywhere and won’t go anywhere, so what was the rationale behind that?” he quizzed.

Mr. Mahama further noted that he would have gladly participated in the investigation if he had been contacted.

“If they wanted to do a thorough investigation, they should have called me. I am around, and I would have worked with the committee if they had reached out to me,” he stated.

In regard to the missing containers, Mr. Mahama stressed the ease of tracking international shipments.

“If you input the container number, you can easily locate where the container is. Let’s make sure we address the container issue properly,” he said, underscoring the importance of properly investigating the logistics involved.

He also expressed concern about the lack of direct communication from the committee.

“We are all humans serving the country. If they wanted a holistic job, they should have spoken to me directly. Why would I not subject myself to interrogation if indeed I was contacted? But they didn’t call me. I would have gladly cooperated,” he bemoaned.

The scandal, which has sent shockwaves through the country, involves the disappearance of containers containing equipment meant to support ECG operations.

Reports have revealed procurement irregularities and questionable transactions within ECG, with allegations that some government officials and ECG executives were aware of the improper handling of the containers but failed to act.

Ade Coker dares Ntim Fordjour over alleged drug trafficking flight claims https://www.adomonline.com/ade-coker-dares-ntim-fordjour-over-alleged-drug-trafficking-flight-claims/ Wed, 02 Apr 2025 12:33:41 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2520865 Former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ade Coker, has reacted to allegations made by the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, regarding suspicious flights into Ghana.

Rev. Fordjour claimed that an AirMed flight made a transit in Ghana carrying suspicious cargo, suspected to be cocaine and cash in US dollars.

In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Coker responded to these allegations, saying, “Sometimes you have to do proper investigations rather than throwing dust into our eyes.”

He stated that accusations should be backed by concrete proof, urging those making claims to provide the evidence.

“If you are alleging, then prove it. You claim to have information, so bring it and stop asking the airport company to investigate it for you.”

Mr. Coker also criticized the way allegations were being handled.

“Planes land all the time, so if you say a plane has arrived with suspicious cargo, you need to prove it. You can’t just make claims without backing them up.”

He further noted that the authorities should not be blamed for investigative work that was the responsibility of the person making the allegations.

“If you have the information, bring it to the relevant agencies. No one will attack you. Prove what you’re saying and stop making baseless allegations.”

In his view, these allegations were often made without solid evidence, describing such actions as “phishing” for attention.

“They just want to be heard, but in the end, it’s much ado about nothing. You have all the details of the plane when it lands. So, if something suspicious happens, there’s no way it could go unnoticed. At least one of the people unloading the cargo would give a tip-off if something was amiss.”

ADE ON COCIANE

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama, has directed a comprehensive investigation into the allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering involving the suspicious flights at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

President Mahama reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency and urgency in addressing the issue.

But Mr. Coker dared those making the allegations to provide proof.

“You can’t just say a plane landed with cocaine without offering any evidence. Come and prove it,” he urged.

The suit against Chief Justice removal process dead on arrival – Ansa-Asare https://www.adomonline.com/the-suit-against-chief-justice-removal-process-dead-on-arrival-ansa-asare/ Fri, 28 Mar 2025 12:25:44 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2519830 Former Director of the Ghana School of Law, Kwaku Ansa-Asare, has described as “dead on arrival” the application filed at the Supreme Court challenging the procedural legality of President John Mahama’s actions regarding the potential removal of the Chief Justice.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, he argued that the Supreme Court has no jurisdiction over the matter, as there are clear constitutional procedures to follow.

“The law doesn’t say people should rush to court when such petitions come up. The Supreme Court has no say in this matter, so the writ filed is dead on arrival and will have no effect,” he stated.

The legal practitioner also expressed concerns that the attempt to remove the Chief Justice was politically motivated.

“It seems because the NDC is now in government, they can no longer work with an NPP-appointed Chief Justice. But the law says he or she is an appointee of the constitution, and that is where the loyalty lies,” he said.

He urged President Mahama to maintain a firm stance as the father of the nation and not succumb to political pressure.

“This must be a litmus test for President Mahama. He must prove to Ghanaians that he is a father of all and not just a leader of the NDC. The Chief Justice is neither for the NPP nor the NDC but for the Republic of Ghana,” he added.

The immediate past Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, on Thursday filed a lawsuit on behalf of Old Tafo MP Vincent Ekow Assafuah against the Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Ayine.

The suit challenges the procedural legality of President Mahama’s actions regarding the potential removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo following the receipt of three petitions.

Mr. Assafuah, invoking the Supreme Court’s original jurisdiction under Article 2(1)(b) of the Constitution, is seeking multiple declarations on the proper interpretation of constitutional provisions governing the removal of a Chief Justice.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has set April 2, 2025, for the hearing of the application.

In the meantime, Chief Justice Torkonoo has written to the President, with copies sent to other stakeholders, requesting copies of the three petitions.

If I were the CJ, I wouldn’t have bothered asking for copies of petitions – Ansa-Asare [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/if-i-were-the-cj-i-wouldnt-have-bothered-asking-for-copies-of-petitions-ansa-asare-audio/ Fri, 28 Mar 2025 10:20:59 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2519733 Former Director of the Ghana School of Law, Kwaku Ansa-Asare, has shared his thoughts on Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo’s request for copies of the petitions seeking her removal from office.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, March 28, Mr. Ansa-Asare said if he was in the Chief Justice’s position, he wouldn’t have bothered to ask for the petitions.

“If I were the Chief Justice, I wouldn’t have even asked for the copies. But the fact that she has requested them shows that she knows the law and understands that she is entitled to them,” he said.

He explained that the law requires a Chief Justice to be informed of any petition filed against them.

“The law is clear—if a petition is sent against the Chief Justice, she must know what it says. That’s why she wrote to the President requesting her copies.”

However, he argued that the Chief Justice did not necessarily need to make a formal request.

“Even if she hadn’t written to the President, she should just continue her work. The Council of State will ask if she has been given copies, and if not, they will direct the President to provide them,” he added.

According to Mr. Ansa-Asare, proceeding with the petition without giving the Chief Justice an opportunity to respond would be improper.

“A petition without the response of the person it is against is incomplete. How do you make a decision without hearing from the other side?” he questioned.

LAWYER ANSA ON CJ COPIES

His comments come after Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo formally requested copies of the three petitions submitted to President John Mahama seeking her removal.

In a letter to the President on Thursday, March 27, she stated, “I am by this letter humbly and respectfully asking His Excellency the President and eminent members of the Council of State to forward the petitions against me and allow me at least seven days after receipt to provide my response, which can then form part of the material for the consultations anticipated under Article 146(6), before the possible setting up of a Committee of Inquiry under Article 146(7).”

The matter has sparked debate over due process in handling petitions against a sitting Chief Justice.

Chief Justice would have to be suspended if… – Inusah Fuseini [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/chief-justice-would-have-to-be-suspended-if-inusah-fuseini-audio/ Thu, 27 Mar 2025 11:39:02 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2519447 Former Tamale Central MP Inusah Fuseini has explained that the quest to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo must follow constitutional procedures.

According to him, if a committee is set up to probe the basis for her removal, the Chief Justice would have to be suspended during the investigation.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the lawyer noted that this is not the first time petitions have been submitted seeking the removal of Chief Justices.

His statement follows the three petitions forwarded by President John Mahama to the Council of State, requesting the removal of Justice Gertrude Torkonoo.

However, some Ghanaians, including Manhyia South MP and lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, have cautioned against any removal without substantial grounds, warning of the long-term consequences for Ghana’s judiciary and governance.

Mr. Fuseini clarified that the Council of State’s role is limited to determining whether the petition presents a prima facie case, warranting the formation of a committee.

“If they analyze the petition and conclude that it lacks substance, they will advise the President that there is no prima facie case.

“But if a prima facie case is established, a five-member committee—comprising two lawyers and three non-lawyers, chaired by a Justice of the Superior Court—will be set up to investigate the matter. Their findings and recommendations will then be binding on the President. During the investigation, the Chief Justice will be suspended by the President,” he explained.

This can break the nation – Manhyia South MP cautions Council of State over petitions to remove CJ https://www.adomonline.com/this-can-break-us-as-a-nation-manhyia-south-mp-cautions-council-of-state-over-petitions-to-remove-cj/ Thu, 27 Mar 2025 10:31:20 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2519354 Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has urged the Council of State to tread cautiously regarding petitions seeking the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning Dwaso Nsem, he warned that the move could set a dangerous precedent that might undermine the judiciary and Ghana’s democracy.

“This can break us as a nation. The judiciary is very important, and we should not play the ostrich. If you remove her today, another government may also come and remove a new Chief Justice. That is why we are appealing to the Council of State—if there are no strong grounds, they should be careful in the way they handle this matter,” he stated.

His comments come after President John Mahama began consultations with the Council of State following the submission of three petitions seeking the removal of the Chief Justice.

The process is in line with Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, according to a statement from the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

Private legal practitioner

However, the NPP lawmaker acknowledged that the petition process is constitutional but stressed that removing the Chief Justice would not solve any systemic issues.

“The Council of State should rather focus on bringing reforms because removing the Chief Justice alone will not be enough. Another government can come and remove a new Chief Justice, and this cycle can weaken our institutions,” he cautioned.

BARFOUR ON CJ

While noting that he had previously argued cases before Chief Justice Torkornoo, the Manhyia South MP said he was yet to review the details of the petition and could not determine whether it was justified.

“Chief Justice is a human being and, like any other judge, can make mistakes. That is why Article 146 provides a procedure for removing both a judge and a Chief Justice because they are two separate offices,” he explained.

He also clarified that a petition does not automatically mean the Chief Justice must be suspended, urging all parties to follow due process.

“We are yet to see the petition, so we cannot blame anyone. But we must ensure that we don’t allow politicians to destroy Ghana’s democracy,” he concluded.

I left a healthy organization – Obour reflects on his tenure at Ghana Post https://www.adomonline.com/i-left-a-healthy-organization-obour-reflects-on-his-tenure-at-ghana-post/ Wed, 26 Mar 2025 17:00:03 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2519233 The former Managing Director of Ghana Post Company Limited, Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour, has shared his thoughts on his time at the helm of the state-owned postal service.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Obour reflected on the progress the company made under his leadership

He stated that he left the organization in a healthy state and at its peak, needing only good continuity and skilled leadership to sustain its success.

“I left Ghana Post at its highest level. It was a healthy organization, and it requires continuity with the right skills to keep moving forward” he said.

Obour stressed the importance of continuity to ensure the growth of the postal service, stressing that it had reached a point where stability was key.

He also mentioned that during his tenure, he introduced long service awards for employees who had worked for more than five years.

“When I took over as the MD, there was a legacy debt, and we worked hard to clear some of those arrears. Some employees had been at Ghana Post for 15 to 18 years, so we promoted many of them in 2023 to recognize their long service. We also promoted people who had served 10 and 5 years.”

These promotions, Obour noted, gave staff a sense of motivation and a boost in morale.

He explained that despite challenges like salary limitations, the staff were happy with the improvements and initiatives implemented during his time in office.

“We introduced a transport allowance, and the workers were happy. Though the salaries weren’t perfect, they appreciated the efforts we made on their behalf.”

OBOUR ON GHANA POST

Obour also took pride in the modernization of the company’s fleet, revealing that under his leadership, Ghana Post added about 22 new vehicles, including buses, and nearly 100 motorcycles to its existing fleet.

“The post office is now more competitive than before. We were able to improve our transportation network, which made a significant difference in service delivery” he noted.

Looking back on his tenure, Obour expressed confidence in the strides made during his leadership.

“Many initiatives were introduced, and I believe I did well during my time at Ghana Post,” he said. “There has been massive growth, and if this progress continues, the post office will become a great institution.”

Obour resigned from his position as Managing Director of Ghana Post some weeks ago, leaving behind a legacy of growth and change at the state-run postal service.

Stop the NPP-NDC gov’t tug-of-war, it won’t help – Ansa-Asare on petitions to remove CJ https://www.adomonline.com/stop-the-npp-ndc-govt-tug-of-war-it-wont-help-ansa-asare-on-petitions-to-remove-cj/ Wed, 26 Mar 2025 09:54:18 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2518905 Former Director of the Ghana School of Law, Kwaku Ansa-Asare, has expressed concerns over attempts to remove the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkonoo, cautioning against politically motivated petitions.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, he criticized the deep political divide between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stating, “This NPP-NDC back and forth will not help the country. We need to stop it.”

According to him, similar petitions to remove a Chief Justice under President Nana Akufo-Addo’s tenure were unsuccessful because the constitutional processes were followed.

He advised President John Mahama to do the same.

“If Nana Akufo-Addo, during his time, rejected petitions against the Chief Justice using constitutional channels, then Mahama should also ensure that the constitution is followed and not go against the laws of the country,” he stated.

Ansa-Asare further questioned the necessity of the recent petitions, arguing that those requesting details about the petitioners were diverting attention from more pressing legal issues.

“Now we have a constitution, which is the supreme law. If we can’t abide by it, then what is its essence?” he asked.

He emphasized the importance of protecting the judiciary, saying, “The judiciary is a very important institution and should not be taken lightly. We should allow the Chief Justice to work because she was appointed in accordance with the constitution.”

ANSAH ASARE ON CJ PETITION

The legal expert concluded by urging Ghanaians to prioritize national development over partisan conflicts, warning that constant political battles would only hurt the country’s progress.

Meanwhile, the President has begun consultations with the Council of State following the submission of three petitions seeking the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.

According to a statement from the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the move is in line with the constitutional process outlined in Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution.

Over 1,350 ECG containers can’t vanish at Tema Port – Energy Minister vows probe [Audio] https://www.adomonline.com/over-1350-ecg-containers-cant-vanish-at-tema-port-energy-minister-vows-probe-audio/ Tue, 25 Mar 2025 17:27:22 +0000 https://www.adomonline.com/?p=2518770 Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has reacted to an investigative report on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), revealing that over 1,350 containers meant for the company cannot be accounted for at the Tema Port.

The chairman of the investigative committee, Prof. Innocent Senyo Acquah, disclosed that while ECG initially claimed to have 2,491 uncleared containers containing cables and other equipment at the port, an independent audit found only 1,134, leaving 1,347 missing.

Presenting the findings to the Minister, Prof. Acquah highlighted the discrepancies, raising concerns about possible theft or diversion of the containers.

Reacting to the report in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr. Jinapor confirmed the issue, stating, “One container can be worth about $500,000, and now we are being told that over 1,350 containers have vanished from the port. This is shocking.”

He noted that ECG’s records indicate that some of the containers are tied up in legal disputes. However, he questioned how such a large number of containers could go missing without proper accountability.

“We will get to the bottom of this. How did these containers disappear without trace? I am convinced that some people have stolen or diverted them,” he stated.

The minister noted that all relevant agencies, including Customs and National Security, would be involved in the investigation to trace the missing containers.

“The records will show where they are. We will not spare anyone found culpable,” he added.

He further disclosed that some of the containers, whose contents include electrical cables and other essential materials, have yet to be fully accounted for.

“We don’t even know the full details of what was in those missing containers,” he remarked.

As part of immediate measures, Mr. Jinapor announced that ECG’s procurement unit would be restructured within a week.

“It cannot be business as usual. We are not targeting anybody, but we will make sure whoever is responsible is held liable,” he assured.

Additionally, he directed that the remaining containers be moved to a secure warehouse under the protection of National Security.

“The over 1,350 containers cannot vanish into thin air. I am convinced someone has stolen them. We will work with the Attorney General and the Police to ensure those responsible are brought to book and either retrieve the containers or recover their monetary value,” he affirmed.

The investigation was launched following the discovery of the uncleared containers during the minister’s visit to the port in January 2025.

A five-member committee was tasked with examining ECG’s procurement practices, assessing the cost of the containers, and determining liabilities, which have been estimated at GH₵1.5 billion.
