Aduana Stars recorded their first win of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup group stage at home as they beat AS Vita Club 2-1 in Dormaa on Wednesday.
The Ghanaian champions under new manager Kenichi Yatsuhatshi showed class despite the absence of active football in the country for over a month, boosting their chances of qualifying from their group.
Two quick goals from strikers Bright Adjei and Yahaya Mohammed in the first half powered the “Ogya Boys” on until Mundele pulled a goal back for the visiting team with a stunning strike from a free kick.
Aduana Stars, however, held onto their lead and maintained their composure to run away with maximum points after recess.
Ghanaian Champions Aduana Stars after this vital victory now occupy the second spot with four points, with Raja Casablanca on top spot with five points. Congolese Champions AS Vita Club is now third also on four points and ASEC Mimosas languish at the bottom with three points.
Aduana Stars will travel to Congo in 10 days’ time for the return encounter against AS Vita Club.
