CAF CL: I am not happy we played on this pitch – Raja Club coach slams Accra Sports Stadium

-

Raja Casablanca coach, Rusmir Cvirko, has voiced his dissatisfaction about the poor condition of the Accra Sports Stadium’s pitch.

His comments came after his team drew 2-2 with Ghana Premier League champions, Samatex, in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round on Sunday.

Speaking to Max TV after the match, Cvirko praised his team’s effort but expressed frustration over the playing surface, which he believes negatively impacted their performance.

“I am not happy. I am happy we didn’t lose the game, but normally, we must win this game. But on this field, how we play, it’s impossible to play.” he told Max TV.

Concerns over the condition of the pitch have persisted for some time, and Cvirko was clear that the surface made it difficult for his side to execute their usual style of play.

Despite the tough conditions, the Moroccan coach commended his players for their determination.

“How we played today, I say congratulations, because that’s a big win for my team, and because of that I am proud of these young boys. But how we played and where we played on this field is very difficult,” he added.

Raja Casablanca will face Samatex again in the return leg at the Stade Larbi Zaouli on Saturday, September 21.
