The Business Development Manager of FC Samartex, Paul Anyaba, has stated that the team’s CAF Champions League campaign will be considered a “success” if they advance to the group stages.
The Ghana Premier League champions are set to make their debut in this prestigious African competition. They will face Cameroonian side Victoria FC in the preliminary round.
Anyaba told JoySports, “Reaching the group stages would mark a significant achievement, not just for our club but for Ghana as well. We are determined and focused on advancing to the group stages.”
He continued, “We’ve analyzed Victoria FC and believe that despite this being our debut season in the CAF Champions League, we have the capability to overcome them and progress to the final preliminary round.”
Anyaba also acknowledged the potential challenge ahead, saying, “We’re aware that if we succeed against Victoria, our next opponents would be Raja Casablanca. We’ll deal with that challenge when it comes.”
The first leg of the tie will be played at Japoma Stadium on Sunday, August 18, with the second leg scheduled for August 25 at Accra Sports Stadium.
The winner will advance to face Niger’s AS GNN and Morocco’s Raja Casablanca in the next round.
