By-election: NDC’s withdrawal premeditated – NPP [Video]

-

The Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buabeng has stated the decision of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to pull-out of the Ayawaso by-election was premeditated.

Addressing the media at the NPP’s party headquarters, he said the signs leading to this boycott were very clear prior to the election.

“Otukunor first issued a fiat and stated if they don’t get a register of their choice, they will pull out and as at yesterday, that decision was still holding as at Wednesday evening. The atmosphere was calm and all was set for the elections this morning when the NDC suddenly announced alleged killings of people.”

Mr Buabeng Asamoah further stated that, as at 8:30 am this morning, the NDC had no agents at various polling stations they visited and emphasized the incident did not happen at a polling station.

“The incident was an off polling station event so was there an FEC meeting on the field to immediately decide a pull-out? So these are enough reasons for us to say it was premeditated”

Mr Buabeng Asamoah stressed that, if the pullout was announced off the field, then it is a hugely orchestrated attempt to destroy an election the NDC knew from the beginning they were going to lose.
