The Buem-Jasikan Assembly has donated 980 mono and dual desks to the Ghana Education Service (GES) in a bid to enhance educational infrastructure in the Buem-Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region,

The desks, procured through the District Assembly Common Fund Responsive Factor Grant, aim to address the furniture shortages affecting both senior high schools and basic schools within the municipality.

During the handover ceremony, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Elizabeth Kessewa Adjonor emphasized the assembly’s commitment to improving education.

She noted that the provision of desks is part of a broader effort to create a conducive learning environment, acknowledging education as the foundation of societal development.

MCE Adjonor highlighted that the assembly has already distributed over 3,000 desks in previous years to reduce the furniture deficit and urged school authorities to ensure proper maintenance of the new desks to maximize their benefit.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the GES, Roselyn Kafui Ofori, the Education Director for the municipality, expressed her gratitude to the assembly for its continued support in addressing critical needs within the education sector.

She underscored the significance of the donation, noting that many schools in the municipality have struggled with inadequate furniture, a situation that has hindered the learning experience for students.

The new desks, she affirmed, will improve the learning environment and motivate students to perform better.

The initiative underscores the Buem-Jasikan Assembly’s dedication to enhancing the quality of education and ensuring that all students have access to essential resources for academic success.
