Management of Nag Fairmont Construction Company has started paying compensation to all the 550 people whose properties were destroyed after a rock blast at Gomoa Budumburam in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The Chairman of a five-member committee set up to probe the disaster, which occurred on October 14, 2024, confirmed this in an interview with Adom News.

The Chairman, Solomon Darko Quarm, who doubles as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa East, assured that all the victims will receive their due compensation.

The accident occurred during a rock-blasting operation along the Buduburam section of the Accra-Winneba highway, part of a construction project, leading to the death of four people, while several others sustained critical injuries and properties were destroyed.

Meanwhile, the Gomoa East NaDMO Director, Robert Hackman, who paid the money to the victims on behalf of Nag Fairmont, noted that the elderly victims would receive payment on Friday.

Some of the beneficiaries have commended the contractor for the move.
