In other to enhance transparency and citizen engagement in public service delivery, BudgIT Ghana has officially launched its TRACKA platform.
This innovative tool empowers citizens, civil society groups, and organizations across the country to monitor and report on government projects within their communities.
By allowing users to upload information about ongoing government initiatives, TRACKA seeks to promote accountability and ensure that public funds are effectively utilized.
Speaking at the launch, themed: Empowering Active Citizens with Tools of Accountability, the Country Director of BudgIT Ghana, Jennifer Moffatt urged Ghanaians to actively participate in the development of the nation by tracking government projects.
She emphasized the importance of civic involvement, encouraging citizens to regularly use TRACKA to monitor how state funds are being spent.
She added that active citizenship means holding our leaders accountable and ensuring that public resources are used for the collective good.
The TRACKA platform, accessible at www.yourtracka.org, offers users the opportunity to upload details about government projects in their local areas or check the status of other projects across Ghana.
This initiative is part of BudgIT’s broader mission to foster good governance through transparency.
The company operates in other African countries, including Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, where BudgIT has operated for nearly a decade.
The Chairperson of the BudgIT Ghana Board, Ethel Cofie, echoed the call for public participation, stressing the importance of collective effort in holding governments accountable.
By joining the platform, Ghanaians can ensure that the taxpayer money is being used effectively and that development projects are progressing as promised.
With TRACKA, BudgIT Ghana aims to create a stronger link between the government and its citizens, ultimately contributing to a more transparent and accountable governance system.
The organization hopes that by giving the public easy access to track progress, government agencies will be more responsive and committed to completing projects that benefit the nation as a whole.
