Samuel Offei, a 41-year-old cook has been arrested by the Eastern Regional Police Command for kidnapping a young boy at Koforidua Asokore.
Samuel Offei, who was arrested on Thursday at his hideout in Asokore had been demanding a GHC2,000.00 ransom from the mother of the boy for the past 2 months.
According to Citi News sources, Samuel Offei who was in a relationship with the boy’s mother but felt cheated, kidnapped the boy after the woman ended the relationship with him.

He however demanded that a ransom of GHC2,000 is paid by the mother before he will release the boy.
Confirming the arrest to Citi News, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, said the suspect who was sent to court on Friday has been remanded to reappear on January 11 2018.
“The Eastern Regional police command arrested him after engaging in an extensive investigation into the case when it was first reported to us.”
“He initially went to the boy’s school and picked him up without the authorization of the mother and took the boy to an unknown location where he started demanding money from the boy’s mother. We however lured him to a place at Asokore with the intention of handing over the ransom he requested to him and a team on standby moved in to arrest him”.

DSP Ebenezer Tetteh added that, “we quickly arraigned him before the Koforidua Circuit Court after he was charged with the offence to which he pleaded guilty to the charge and has been remanded to police custody to reappear on 11th of January.”

He said the boy would be taken to the hospital to seek medical examination and to know the extent of his health and wellbeing, so he can assist in their investigation.
