According to the teacher, Amos Akoru, he has, on several occasions, received reports of the boy’s frequent bullying of students which he found to be unacceptable hence his decision to punish Bashiru.
“A girl reported another bullying incident to me and I urged her to come if the incident repeats itself but I was surprised Bashiru had the courage to beat the girl for reporting him for the school to punished him,” Mr Akoru narrated.

The headteacher also added that some of the students informed him of attempts by the 14-year-old to get back at his teachers for punishing him or any further attempts to prevent him from his actions that was why he brought a locally manufactured pistol to the school.
Bashiru is currently in the custody of the Damango police and is being interrogated on how he got the unlicensed gun.
