Boxing: Ghana’s undefeated sensation Fosu Thompson sets sights on West Africa glory

Ghana’s undefeated welterweight boxer, Fosu Thompson, is preparing for the biggest fight of his career as he travels to Lagos, Nigeria, to face Kabiru Salawu for the vacant WABU welterweight title.

Thompson, with an impressive record of nine fights, eight wins, and one draw, is confident of securing the coveted West African belt for Ghana.

His opponent, Salawu, brings a record of six fights, with four wins, one loss, and a draw.

Ahead of the bout, Thompson has called on the media and the public to support him with prayers and encouragement.

“I’m not just fighting for myself, but for my country and the people of Ghana,” he said. “I’m determined to make them proud and bring the title home,” he declared.

He also expressed deep gratitude to his management team, led by Madam Noami Yeboah, and his coaching team, headed by Charles Quartey.

“I couldn’t have made it this far without their tireless efforts and guidance,” he acknowledged.

The highly anticipated fight is set to take place on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
