The Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing illegal mining, chieftaincy disputes, and prioritizing infrastructure development and job creation for the youth.
In his first media engagement at the Bono Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Akwaboa assured residents that his administration would take decisive action against illegal mining, which has long threatened the region’s environment and water bodies.
He also pledged to resolve chieftaincy disputes that have caused instability in some communities.
To drive economic growth, the Minister outlined plans to promote poultry farming and the cashew industry, believing these sectors will create job opportunities for young people and strengthen the local economy.
In addition, he raised concerns about illegal lumbering, which has contributed to deforestation and environmental degradation, assuring the public that strict measures would be implemented to protect the region’s forests.
On infrastructure development, Mr. Akwaboa acknowledged the poor state of roads in the region and assured the public that improving road networks would be a key priority under his leadership.
He emphasized Bono’s potential as Ghana’s food basket and a leading producer of cashew and poultry products, signaling a strong commitment to leveraging agriculture for sustainable development.
