The Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, has urged employees of the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to support the government’s ‘Reset Agenda’ aimed at transforming the nation’s fortunes.
Describing the ‘Reset Ghana’ initiative as on course, he emphasized that the process begins with technocrats, urging them to help change the attitudes of public sector employees and embrace the necessary changes that may come with the initiative.
Mr. Antwi made the call at the opening session of a two-day Quality Assurance Hands-Holding Workshop on the 2024 Annual Progress Reports (APRs) of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) in Techiman. The workshop was organized by the NDPC.
He commended the NDPC for its commitment to promoting evidence-based decision-making and transparency in national development and stressed the importance of reviewing the 2024 APRs.
Mr. Antwi encouraged participants, who were mainly key staff of the MMDAs, to take the workshop seriously, actively contribute to discussions, and leverage their expertise to identify and propose solutions to development challenges.
Mr. Isaac Kwesi Eweh, Principal Planning Officer at the NDPC, stated that the Commission collaborated with stakeholders to publish the Agenda for Jobs Phase II programme, which provides a medium-term development policy framework.
The programme aims to build an optimistic, self-confident, and prosperous nation through the creative use of human and natural resources while fostering a democratic, open, and fair society. The framework focuses on six key development sectors: Economic Development, Social Development, Environment, Infrastructure and Human Settlements, Governance, Corruption and Public Accountability, and Emergency Planning and Response Implementation, Coordination, Monitoring, and Evaluation (ICME).
