The Office: Blocking feedback channels dangerous – Journalist

-

An organisation that fails to open channels for feedbacks makes recurrent mistakes that will eventually cause it to die off completely, Joshua Tigo, editor of Adomonline.com has said.

He said even though ‘feedback’ is considered the last piece of the communication jigsaw puzzle, it is the most important piece because it helps individuals and organisations to identify problems so they can take the necessary steps to correct them.

“Feedbacks are the most important part of the communication process because they are meant to grow individuals and organisations; without them, an organisation may be stagnated or die off completely,” he noted.

He said with proper feedback systems in place, an organisation or an individual can identify strengths and weakness that can be analysed for improvement purposes.

Mr Tigo was speaking as a guest on Joy Prime’s Facebook Live show, The Office, on how to handle feedbacks in the office.

He has, however, advised that negative feedbacks are handled in private because they have the ability to break the confidence of individuals permanently if not handled well.

“As a strategy, it is advised that you precede negative feedbacks with positive ones, especially for individuals who may be quick-tempered. You may give feedback to such people by avoiding face-to-face contacts or by using persons they may be more comfortable with,” he added.
