The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has indicated that Otto Addo’s position as head coach of the Black Stars is still uncertain.
This comes after Addo met with the GFA Executive Council to review his technical reports following the team’s disappointing performance in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking the first time in 20 years that Ghana has failed to qualify for the tournament.
Addo, aged 47, has faced significant criticism due to the team’s lackluster performance, which has fueled discussions about his potential departure.
The meeting on Wednesday, November 27, was expected to result in a decision about Addo’s future.
However, speaking on Joy FM’s Game Plan on Friday, November 29, Asante Twum suggested that no final decision has been made.

“Otto Addo presented a 56-page report to the GFA Executive Council and certain decisions were made,” he said.
“However, his future is still undecided. The FA has not taken any decision on his job yet.
What I can confirm is that a new Black Stars Management Committee will be put together before the team competes in the World Cup qualifiers next year,” he added.
Asante Twum also mentioned that further discussions will take place before any conclusions are reached regarding Addo’s tenure.
In the meantime, the GFA issued a statement in which Otto Addo took full responsibility for the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, which is set to take place in Morocco.
Ghana finished at the bottom of Group F, without a single win in six matches, and ended the qualifiers with just three points.
