Tema Youth and Black Starlets wonder kid, Gabriel Laveh says the target of the Black Starlets is to win this year’s U-17 Cup of Nations tournament in Gabon.
Ghana booked its ticket for the youth tournament last year after eliminating one of the powerhouses in Africa youth football, Ivory Coast.
The Black Starlets are currently preparing for the competition.
Despite most Ghanaian looking forward to seeing the Black Starlets qualify for the World Cup in India later this year, Laveh insist the team aims at bringing back the lost glory in Africa by clinching the trophy for the first time in many years.
The team will automatically qualify for the World Cup after winning the African Cup.
“We are thinking about both tournaments, but our main aim is to win the trophy here in Africa that is what we are preparing for,” he told Adom Sports.
Head coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin and his charges will play Niger U17 in an International friendly match as part of their preparations for the final tournament.
Ghana last won the tournament in 1995.
