Black Satellites to play four-nation tournament in Morocco ahead of U-20 AFCON

Ghana’s U-20 national team, the Black Satellites, will participate in a four-nation tournament in Morocco from March 17 to 25 as part of their preparations for the upcoming U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

The tournament will provide a crucial platform for the team to fine-tune their tactics and assess their squad ahead of the continental competition. Ghana will compete against hosts Morocco and two other nations in the mini-tournament.

For the U-20 AFCON, the Black Satellites have been placed in Group A alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Tanzania, DR Congo, and a team from the Central African Football Federations Union (UNIFAC). The tournament is scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 18, 2025.

As part of their preparations, the Black Satellites have been playing friendly matches against Ghana Premier League clubs, including Hearts of Oak, Nations FC, and Heart of Lions, as well as lower-tier teams in Accra.

Ghana remains one of Africa’s most successful youth teams, having won the U-20 AFCON four times. They also made history in 2009 as the first African team to lift the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
