Ghana’s U-20 national team, the Black Satellites, have left Accra for Cairo as they gear up for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which kicks off next weekend.

The team departed on Saturday, April 19, 2025, via Kotoka International Airport and will spend a week in the Egyptian capital to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the tournament.

This trip marks the next phase of their buildup, following a two-week training camp held in Accra. As part of their preparations, the Black Satellites also competed in a three-nation tournament in Rabat, Morocco.

Drawn in Group C, Ghana will face tough competition from Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic. The team, four-time winners of the competition, will be aiming to clinch a fifth title, having previously won in 1993, 1999, 2009, and 2021.

Ghana also holds the distinction of being the only African nation to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup, a historic achievement secured in Egypt in 2009.

The 2025 U-20 AFCON runs from April 27 to May 18, with the top four teams earning qualification for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
