Black Satellites coach confident ahead of 2025 U-20 AFCON

Head coach of the Black Satellites, Desmond Ofei, has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness and determination as they prepare for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana has been drawn into a challenging Group C, where they will face defending champions Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic.

Ahead of the tournament, Coach Ofei praised the players’ commitment and energy during preparations.

“We are really happy, and you can see the boys are enthusiastic about the whole situation,” he said. “The hunger is there, so I don’t think we need to motivate them.”

He emphasized that the team is putting in maximum effort and is prepared to fight for national pride.

“They’re giving 100% in every training session and are ready to give everything for the nation,” he added.

Ghana, four-time champions of the competition, will be aiming to reclaim their place at the top of African youth football following a string of underwhelming campaigns in recent years.

The 2025 U-20 AFCON is set to take place from April 27 to May 18, with the top four teams securing qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile later that year.
