The Black Queens of Ghana will face either Rwanda or Egypt in the qualifiers for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Under the guidance of head coach Nora Hauptle, the team aims to secure back-to-back WAFCON qualifications after successfully booking their place in next year’s tournament.
A total of 38 African nations will compete for one of the 12 spots in the final phase, alongside host nation Morocco.
This will mark the third consecutive time that Morocco will host Africa’s premier women’s football competition.
South Africa, along with five other teams, has been exempted from the first round of qualifiers due to their high FIFA rankings. The other exempted teams include Zambia, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, and Cameroon.
Having received a bye in the first round, Ghana will enter the second round, where they will face the winner of the match between Rwanda and Egypt.
The qualification process will consist of two rounds of home-and-away fixtures, promising thrilling and decisive matches.
The first-round matches will take place from February 17 to 26, 2025, with the second round scheduled between October 20 and 28, 2025.
