The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Caucus has nominated Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor, as the First Deputy Speaker of the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
The announcement was made during a caucus meeting on Monday, January 6, 2025, ahead of the commencement of the new parliamentary term.
Ahiafor, a seasoned legislator with a strong track record in legal and parliamentary affairs, is expected to bring valuable expertise to his new role.
The caucus also reaffirmed the selection of Independent MP for Fomena, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, as the Second Deputy Speaker.
Asiamah, who served in the same capacity in the previous parliament, has been recognized for his impartiality and dedication to parliamentary proceedings.
The Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic will officially commence on January 7, 2025, with the swearing-in of Members of Parliament and the election of the Speaker of Parliament.
