Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has extended his stay with Ghana Premier League club Hearts of Oak, signing a two-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.
Asare, who has recorded 13 clean sheets so far this season, has attracted interest from several top African clubs due to his outstanding performances.
The former Great Olympics shot-stopper gained national recognition after delivering crucial clean sheets in the Black Stars’ victories over Chad and Madagascar during the March international window in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has since named Asare as the team’s new first-choice goalkeeper, surpassing long-time starter Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Jojo Wollacott.
Despite the challenges faced by the team, Asare has continued to play an instrumental role in Hearts of Oak’s campaign in the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
Asare is set to retain his position in goal when Hearts of Oak face Vision FC in their Matchday 27 fixture at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex on Sunday.
