Some New Patriotic Party (NPP) members at Bekwai, Ashanti region, have threatened to ditch the party for an Independent candidate if issues of forms for parliamentary primaries remain unsolved.
Leader of the group, Nana Kwabena Adjei Twum-Barima, speaking to Adom News expressed worry about the shortage and questioned if the party’s constitution regarding elections has changed.
“Every four years we vote smoothly but this year some members are going unopposed and to this effect, some people are prevented from picking forms.

“Eight people have expressed interest in the seat but only three people have been given permission to pick the forms; on whose authority are members suitable for forms determined?” He asked.
He also inquired if the scarcity is a deliberate attempt to prevent some party members from picking forms and vying for positions.
A member of the aggrieved group disclosed the incumbent Joseph Osei Owusu has failed in his duty as Member of Parliament and should be voted out but an artificial forms shortage has been created to favour him.
Meanwhile, the Constituency Secretary, Atta Owusu Boateng admitted some interested members failed to pick forms because the municipality was presented with just three that have already been handed out.
He denied allegations that the scarcity is deliberate and appealed to the leadership of the party to bring more forms to reduce the tension at Bekwai.
