The acting chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has personally apologized to the management of The Multimedia Group and Adom FM Journalist, Ohemaa Sakyiwaa over the attack on the later at the party’s headquarters.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Friday, Blay said the NPP is not known for attacking journalists, adding that he was shocked at the news.

“I want to use your platform to apologise to her [Ohemaa Sakyiwaa] and the Multimedia platform and all journalists; it is not our style,” he said.
During a charged atmosphere at the NPP Headquarters in Accra, Ohemaa Sakyiwaa Ahwenepa tried taking a photo of Hajia Fati who was throwing tantrums at the suspended Second Vice-Chairman who was attempting to buy a form to contest in the upcoming elections.

But before she could properly position herself for a snapshot, she felt a sharp pain in the upper lip and nose – a punch from Fati.
Madam Fati in her defence has explained that the victim did not identify herself properly or seek her permission before taking shots of her, saying “she looked like an onion seller”.

The attack has been widely condemned by journalists and civil society.
But in a recent turn around of events, Hajia Fati has apologised for the regrettable attack on Sakyiwaa and all journalists.
Mr Blay, commenting on the issue, called on the Multimedia Group and Sakyiwaa to accept the apology as according to him, attacking journalists is not the style of the party.
“We need you and Ghanaians need you, I will see the lady and sought this matter out,” Blay promised.
