Be patient with your husbands, times are hard – Jane Naana to traders

-

The running mate to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on women, particularly traders, to be patient with their husbands who cannot provide financial support for their businesses.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang attributed the situation to the worsening economic conditions under the Akufo-Addo government.

During her regional tour, the NDC running mate addressed market women in Dunkwa Mfoum in the Central Region.

She acknowledged the hardships faced by Ghanaians, especially traders and small-scale enterprises, and assured them that the NDC was aware of these challenges.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang announced that the next NDC government plan is to introduce the Women’s Development Bank.

This initiative aims to provide women with easier access to credit without collateral barriers and high interest rates.

She emphasised that, the Women’s Development Bank is one of many interventions the NDC intends to implement to improve the lives of women in Ghana.

According to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, more than one million women are expected to benefit from this initiative, which will offer loans to support their businesses and enhance their economic prospects and overall well-being.

“Most of the time, when you are unable to get credit from the financial institutions to support your trade, you turn to your husbands for help, but they cannot help because they are either out of jobs or their businesses are not doing well due to the economic difficulties in the country.”

“Be patient with them because it is not their fault. The poor economic management has created all this hardship,” she said.
