The former Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Honourable Rachel Appoh has advised the Member of Parliament-elect for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng to look beyond his party in his bid to lead the constituency.
In the view of Honourable Appoh, Mr. Asare Obeng popularly known as Kwame A-Plus must not only concentrate on his party members but rather on the general development of Gomoa Central Constituency.
The first female Gomoa Central MP urged Kwame A-Plus to utilize the MP’s share of the Common Fund across the constituency.
“As an independent candidate who won with such a margin, I expect him to use the Common Fund across the Constituency”, Honourable Appoh stated at an election victory dinner.
The former deputy Gender Minister indicated that, in the lead up to the December general elections, there was no way she could have campaigned for A-Plus although he had been a brother from the same media house.
She explained “NDC made me, I was a student leader groomed by the party and the NDC supported me in my first election. I would forever be grateful and loyal to the NDC:”
Madam Appoh however indicated her resolve to support Kwame A-Plus in all his endeavours to the greater good of the Constituents.
“I would support him in everything he does with my experience, energy and resources…” she maintained.
Earlier, the entertainer and politician recounted how Madam Appoh had campaigned for the NDC, giving him a run for his money.
Kwame A-Plus recalled that although the NDC’s Regional Chairman and Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia campaigned for the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate in the Constituency, Madam Appoh was the fiercest campaigner in the polls.
He said he expected Honourable Appoh to be lenient with him due to their common place of work but that was not to be.
Carved from Gomoa East, Kwame A-Plus is the first independent candidate to win the Gomoa Central seat.
