Lack is smiling on Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as majority of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters root for him to be chosen as running mate to flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to Deputy National Communications Officer of the party, Jennifer Oforiwaa Queen, Mr. Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO is a leading contender in the race.
“Majority in the party have settled on Napo to partner Dr. Bawumia as running mate. His candidacy will be awesome,” she said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Friday.
Dr. Bawumia on Wednesday delivered a lecture dubbed ‘Ghana’s Next Chapter’ where he outlined his governance plans ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
Bawumia, who was elected flagbearer of the NPP late last year, is yet to choose his running mate.
Several calls have been made for the Vice President to select his running mate from the Ashanti Region, a stronghold of the NPP.
The Energy Minister is among many being considered for the role.
