Bawumia’s minority jab ‘insulting’ – Former Minister

-

Former Central Regional Minister, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan has described as ‘insulting’ Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s comments stating that Minority in Parliament is ‘ignorant’ over their allegations on the recent $2.2bn bond issued by the NPP government.

According to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the Minority’s position on the matter clearly shows that they are uninformed.

“It shows a lack of understanding. The minority have never understood this economy. And it is just amazing that people on that side who were actually in charge of managing the economy will be making such statements. It shows ignorance… and I am so sad when I hear that from people who should know better. They need to understand. Maybe they should read a little,” Dr. Bawumia said.

But the Former Deputy Minister of Finance, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan has lambasted the Vice President claiming his comment is ‘insulting’ in the face of the minority.

According to him, members of the Minority in Parliament have professionally worked in the bond business globally hence have an ultimate understanding and background experience to back their claims on the $2.2bn bond.

“We have all been to school, we have professions, some of us have worked in this bond business globally, we have good understanding of it and added background experience. It’s an insult to the minority. you [Bawumia] have to be careful of how you choose your words; leaders should lead by exmaple…”

He further added that, if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were ‘enlightened’ to the standard, they would not have plagiarize their presidential inaugural speech at the independence square which on occurred on January 7.

“If the NPP gov’t reads they would not have plagiarize the presidential inaugural speech. They would have known that it’s an offence. They don’t have the moral responsibility to say someone is ignorant. They are rather ignorant for the speech. I think NPP needs to read more…” he said on Class FM on Monday.
