The Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has marked his 61st birthday by donating to residents of the Weija Leprosarium in Accra.

As Patron of the Ghana Lepers Council, Dr. Bawumia regularly spends his birthdays and special occasions with residents of the leprosarium.

Although unable to visit in person due to a busy schedule, the Vice President ensured they were not forgotten by sending a variety of food items and cash donations to mark the occasion.

Among the items donated were 100 bags of rice, 20 boxes of cooking oil, 20 cartons of tinned tomatoes, 50 boxes of biscuits, 100 cartons of water, and a bull. Additionally, Dr. Bawumia made a symbolic donation of 61,000 Ghana Cedis, representing his age.

Receiving the items, Rev. Father Andrew Campbell expressed immense gratitude on behalf of the leprosarium. “We cannot thank him enough for what he always does for us. Always on his birthday and other important occasions, he remembers us. We thank him so much,” Father Campbell said.

Father Campbell also acknowledged Dr. Bawumia’s ongoing support for the leprosarium and individuals in need, including his assistance for a girl receiving special medical care abroad.
