Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has expressed unwavering confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s leadership, describing him as the most suitable candidate to guide the New Patriotic Party (NPP) toward future victories.
In an interview on Channel One TV, Mr. Aboagye said the party’s support for Bawumia extends beyond the 2024 elections, suggesting the NPP would continue to rally behind him should he decide to contest again in 2028.
He praised Bawumia’s leadership qualities, creativity, and innovative ideas, highlighting their significance for Ghana’s development.
“I am confident that anytime Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia decides to run, the party will support him wholeheartedly,” Aboagye stated. “The NPP recognizes his unmatched creativity, leadership skills, and innovative approach as critical for Ghana’s progress.”
When asked whether Bawumia is the best person to lead the NPP to victory, Aboagye confidently replied, “Without a doubt.”
Addressing concerns about Bawumia’s ability to recover from the 2024 defeat, he pointed to his resilience, referencing his previous experiences: “He lost as a running mate in 2008 and 2012, but he came back stronger in 2016. He has gone through this before.”
The Electoral Commission (EC) confirmed that John Dramani Mahama won the December 9 polls, securing 6,328,397 votes (56.55%) against Dr. Bawumia’s 4,657,304 votes (41.61%).
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) not only secured the presidency but also achieved a commanding majority in Parliament, capturing over 180 seats, including key constituencies that were previously NPP strongholds.
This resounding victory solidifies Mahama’s mandate as he prepares to assume office once more, with the NDC firmly positioned as the dominant force in Ghana’s political landscape.
