Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has commissioned the Ghana Police Shop at the National Police Headquarters on Wednesday, 17th July 2024.
At the ceremony held in Accra, Vice President Bawumia reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to supporting the Ghana Police Service.
The construction of the Police Shop is part of the Government’s efforts to enhance police infrastructure.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the shop is not meant to replace the Government’s responsibility of supplying mandatory uniforms but to complement efforts in ensuring police uniformity.
The Police Shop is a convenient one-stop facility where officers can purchase essential items such as office attire, operational gear, ceremonial wear, boots, and bags, in addition to the standard issue provided by the Service.
The shop also features an online platform, allowing officers to place orders remotely.
Vice President Bawumia highlighted significant investments made since 2017, including the provision of housing, vehicles, motorbikes, and the recruitment of about 7,000 personnel.
The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Henry Quartey, expressed gratitude to the organizations and individuals who contributed to the establishment of the Police Shop.
He remarked that the government is commitment to prioritizing national security and ensuring peaceful elections in December 2024.
Hon. Quartey assured that the Police Service and other security agencies would discharge their duties professionally to maintain law and order at all times.
